Reflections is a collection of new remixes in a "Europop/house" style of select hits from by German singer Sandra, released in 2006 and includes re-recorded versions of Sandra's hits from first four albums (1985-1990). Also featuring a newly recorded "Ballad" version of "Everlasting Love". In 2007, Virgin Music France decided to release a special version of Reflections, containing three new remixes made by French DJs. These three tracks are as follows: "In the Heat of the Night" (Future Vision Remix - Radio Edit), "Maria Magdalena" (Junior Caldera Remix - Radio Edit), and "In the Heat of the Night" (Superfunk Remix - radio Edit). "In the Heat of the Night 2007" was released online as a digital single containing four new versions of the song, whereas "(I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena" was not.

You’d be forgiven if you thought Selena Gomez & the Scene’s third album in three years, 2011's When the Sun Goes Down, might show signs of a dip in quality control due to cranking out albums so quickly. You’d be wrong, though, because When the Sun Goes Down is actually an improvement over 2010's Year Without Rain. Where that record tried to position Gomez as a more serious and adult artist with varying levels of success, here she’s back to mostly being a young and breezy, happy-go-lucky pop singer. With a couple exceptions, the songs are sassier, lighter, and more fun. Her vocals are more spirited, the arrangements less reliant on heavy synths, and overall, there’s a more playful feeling to the record that’s more in keeping with her first album.

Enigmatic dance-pop project Mono Mind created by Per Gessle is based in Sweden, but features input from collaborators based around the world. Initial single "Sugar Rush" was briefly made available in 2016, but the project made its formal debut with "Save a Place" in 2017. While the group was presented with collage-like portrait graphics and pseudonymous members, the song featured vocals by Helena Josefsson and Roxette's Per Gessle, and publishing information revealed that David Guetta co-wrote the song. Following its release in July of 2017, "Save Me a Place" began picking up airplay, and climbed up the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.

Design of a Decade: 1986-1996 is a misleading title. The bulk of Janet Jackson's greatest-hits collection concentrates on Control and Rhythm Nation 1814, simply by contractual necessity. That is far from a fatal flaw. The hits from those two albums were state-of-the-art dance-pop productions at the time of their release, filled with bottomless beats and memorable, catchy hooks. None of the songs has lost any of its impact, from the funk of "Miss You Much" and "What Have You Done for Me Lately," to the ballads "Let's Wait Awhile" and "Come Back to Me." In addition to all 13 Top 40 hits from Control and Rhythm Nation – all but one went into the Top Five – Design of a Decade includes the biggest and best hit from janet., the sultry "That's the Way Love Goes," and two new songs, "Runaway" and "Twenty Foreplay." It's a credit to Janet that the two new numbers feel like genuine hits, not tacked-on filler, and help make the album a compulsively listenable greatest-hits collection.

Like Seven, released four years earlier, Lisa Stansfield's eighth album bounces from style to style with the singer's deeply impassioned, life-embracing approach a constant feature. Sophisticated pop, Motown/Philadelphia International-styled retro-soul, a few flavors of house, and even muted go-go and elegant drum'n'bass factor into the material. Most unforeseen is "Hercules," not an update of the Allen Toussaint classic but a fiery hero's theme that incorporates the Bo Diddley beat, a triumphant horn arrangement from master Jerry Hey, and the main riff from John Carpenter's "Assault on Precinct 13." A few cuts rate with Stansfield's best. The title song sounds like it was designed to fit with smooth early-'80s R&B grooves like the Mary Jane Girls' "All Night Long" and Keni Burke's "Risin' to the Top."
