The Farm were never one of the great Madchester bands, writing only one truly memorable single ("All Together Now") and turning out a bunch of pleasant, nondescript baggy. The Best of the Farm collects all of the singles and highlights from the group's three albums. There aren't any hidden treasures here, but anyone nostalgic for the pleasures of loping beats, baggy clothes, neo-psychedelia and buckets of Ecstasy should be pleased with this collection.

Assembled from a mountain of bargain-bin samples, Belgian-Australian maverick Gotye's second solo album, Like Drawing Blood, is an impressively eclectic cut-and-paste affair that suggests "the next Sting/Peter Gabriel" labels are doing him a slight disservice. Produced by Franc Tetaz (Architecture in Helsinki), the follow-up to 2003's Boardface undeniably still tips its cap to the two juggernauts of '80s world-pop, particularly on the reverb-drenched dub of "Puzzle with a Piece Missing" and the melodic AOR of "Night Drive," the latter of which ends in a clattering Phil Collins-style drum solo. But Gotye's musical brain is far too hyperactive and intelligent to simply focus his efforts on one particular type of pastiche, and elsewhere, he makes convincing forays into foot-stomping Northern soul on "Learnalilgivinanlovin," claustrophobic trip-hop on the Harry Belafonte-sampling "Hearts a Mess," and lolloping electro-funk of "Thanks for Your Time" (perhaps the best song to be inspired by the frustrations of call centers), while also venturing onto the postwar dancefloor with the instrumental Gallic waltz of "Seven Hours with a Backseat Driver" and the strutting tango of "Coming Back".

This live recording of The Art of Noise is based in the era following the release of "The Seduction of Claude Debussy". As such, it contains much of the narrative threads that tied that album together, but also attempts to weave other Art of Noise favorites (such as "Moments in Love") into the mix.
It might have been more fun to watch on video, to see what was happening onstage, and perhaps to feel more like one of the crowd watching. Without that, we have a concept album that's been chopped up, interspersed with crowd noise, and had a couple of "Greatest Hits" inserted here and there…

Here is the latest record from Klaus Schulze, who died on April 26, 2022 at the age of 74. A special disc in his vast discography (more than 50 albums) because it is the album composed immediately after the soundtrack of Dune version 2021. The ex-drummer of Tangerine Dream had released in 1979 an album entitled Dune, which was to accompany an adaptation project (aborted) by Alejandro Jodorowsky of Frank Herbert's novel. It is Toto (+ a title by the Eno brothers) who will inherit the soundtrack of the Lynch film in 1984. Three decades later, the announcement of Denis Villeneuve's remake plunges Schulze back into the books, of which he is a big fan – to the point of having titled one of his songs Frank Herbert on the 1978 album X. Hans Zimmer then had the excellent idea of calling him to offer him to collaborate on the soundtrack of the film and thus close the loop.

The German Electronics artist Robert Schroeder (discovered 1978 by EM pioneer Klaus Schulze) has produced numerous excellent solo CDs. The music of Robert Schroeder is various, but always soulful. He combines spherical synthesizer sounds with modern rhythm-mical contrasts, often supplemented by spacey guitars and sometimes also by piano, cello or voices. On the occasion of the annually "Schallwelle" Award ceremony, Robert Schroeder once again gave a concert on the 12thof March 2011 in the Planetarium Bochum (FRG). Accompanied by drummer Gigi Frieg and in the encore supplemental by surprise guest musician Bernd Kistenmacher for the approx. 250 spectators results a spectacular and impressing event.

While it can be easy to dislike and dismiss some cookie-cutter electronic music, the challenge lies in finding reasons to listen to it again. Such is the case with Revolutions by Jean Michel Jarre. One reviewer wrote, simply, "(This) is not revolutionary." That is true; Jarre breaks no new ground with the release of this album. He does, however, continue to create original music in his own style. He is often imitated and that is the sincerest form of flattery…

The soundtrack to Errol Morris' documentary The Thin Blue Line emphasizes story over music; the interviews which make up the majority of the film – a crusading effort which led to the the release of its subject, Randall Adams, from a Texas prison – are presented on record as they were on screen, with Glass' chamber orchestra music hovering in the background. The result is a soundtrack which comes remarkably close to capturing the power of its source film; even without the moving images, this is a chilling document.

"Tag Und Nacht", like other Schiller studio albums before it, balances dancefloor material with lush, downtempo electronica. Once again, the majority of the tracks are instrumental, while a handful are full-blown songs with spoken word poetry and ethereal guest vocalists; Culture Beat's Kim Sanders returns, but the highest profile collaboration is with electronic music pioneer Mike Oldfield on "Morgentau." The mood here tends to fall somewhere between tranquil and somber: it can be enjoyed as a deep listening experience or left unobtrusively in the background.
