René & The Alligators was a rock and roll guitar band from The Hague that was founded at the end of 1959 by guitarist and singer René Nodelijk.Initially, Nodelijk tried to build a career as a singer, but soon his talents as a guitarist showed. Sixteen instrumental rock singles from the Alligators were released in the period 1960-1964. This band had a clear Indian background, partly due to the establishment of an Indian Art Circle in the café-restaurant Den Hout in The Hague because of the repatriation from Indonesia. Their best-known singles are Guitar Boogie and In the Mood from 1962. They were an example for the later beat groups in The Hague , the generation that often had guitar lessons from René Nodelijk.

Rhino's double-disc Anthology concentrates on Emmylou Harris' Reprise recordings, which is a blessing. Once she left Reprise, she started to delve into "experimental," "atmospheric" recordings a bit too heavily, certainly more than her prior recordings would justify, and it almost obscured her purest talents – that of a singer that carried on the tradition of, say, Patsy Cline, becoming the greatest country singer of her generation.

Live in London was recorded in October 2022 at a sold out O2 Forum Kentish Town. The concert features Skid Row's biggest hits including "18 and Life" and "Monkey Business" as well as successes like "Time Bomb" and "Tear It Down" from earMUSIC's first release with the band, The Gang's All Here. This tour and this show received rave reviews, in no small part due to the band at the top of their form and singer Erik Grönwall's massive voice and stage presence. Unfortunately, Erik has now left the band for health reasons, making this a one-of-a-kind, not-to-be-repeated collector's item for all Skid Row fans old and new… and Skid Row's first official live album in a 35+ year career.

The Ventures are the most successful and influential instrumental group of all time, with worldwide record sales in excess of 110 million. The late 50s to the early 60s were the 'Golden Era' for R&R instrumentals, and as the first guitar driven instrumental group, their influence was immeasurable, providing the template for The Shadows and just about every other group who followed. This unique compilation comprises their entire 1962 record output, featuring five LPs 'Twist With The Ventures', 'The Ventures Twist Party Vol. 2', 'Mashed Potatoes And Gravy', 'Going To The Ventures Dance Party' and 'The Ventures Play Telstar And The Lovely Bull' and a pair of non-album singles. Also includes a rare radio promo spot for their 'Twist Party Vol 2' LP. They still enjoy enormous international popularity, notably in Japan & the Far East, where they continue to tour and record. Their current line-up includes the groups founder Don Wilson and long time member Nokie Edwards, this duo were The Ventures' lead guitarists during their glory years.

Duke '78 is a live album by the rock band the Grateful Dead. It contains the complete concert recorded at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina, on April 12, 1978. It is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2024, as a three-disc CD and a four-disc LP. The April 12 concert recording is also scheduled to be released on September 20, 2024, as part of the eight-show, 19-CD box set Friend of the Devils: April 1978.

Jack White is one of the great rock conceptualists of the 21st century. He came to fame as the leader of the White Stripes, the Detroit-based garage-punk duo who were unexpectedly one of the biggest rock acts of the 2000s. The White Stripes established White as a roots rocker – he made sure they covered blues chestnuts from Son House – to such a degree that his modernist art instincts were somewhat overshadowed during the band's peak. These dueling, sometimes complementary instincts, fueled White's myriad artistic pursuits both within and without the confines of the White Stripes. He started stepping out on his bandmate Meg almost immediately after White Blood Cells gave the group a blockbuster in 2001, producing Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose and forming the Raconteurs with Brendan Benson, then the Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart of the Kills. His voracious musical appetite and strict work ethic flourished once the White Stripes called it a day in 2011, as he divided his time between his Third Man Records empire, the Raconteurs and Dead Weather, and a solo career that grew increasingly idiosyncratic with each new album.

Bonnie Tyler Recognized for her distinctly raspy voice and soulful pop repertoire, Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler had her first worldwide hit in 1978 with "It's a Heartache" from her second album, Natural Force. Characteristic of her work in the '70s, it blended elements of country, rock, and pop. Leaving signs of country behind, she struck recording-industry gold a second time with 1983's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" from fifth LP Faster Than the Speed of Night. A U.K. number one that reached a career-high number four in the States, its unforgettably formidable climax assured the song's place among the iconic songs of '80s soft rock.

Change European-American collaborations were not uncommon during the disco and post-disco eras. Donna Summer's work with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte was most prominent and groundbreaking, while Change was among the most noteworthy – yet somewhat overlooked – international acts to spring up during the early ‘80s. Driven by Guadeloupian producer Jacques Fred Petrus and Italian partner Mario Malavasi, Change is most commonly associated with “The Glow of Love,” a 1980 single featuring Luther Vandross over a wistful Chic-like production. Through a series of minor transformations – a shifting array of vocalists and behind-the-scenes associates – the group released 11 other charting singles from 1980 through 1985, as well as six charting albums, two of which peaked in the Top Ten of Billboard’s R&B Albums chart. When Petrus and Malavasi conceptualized Change, they had several projects under their belts, including Macho, Midnight Band, Revanche, and Peter Jacques Band.

Recorded at a small club called Uncle Sam's in Hull, Massachusetts, on July 1, 1983, the album features Allman and his band performing Allman's solo songs, as well as Allman Brothers Band classics like "Midnight Rider," "Dreams" and "Melissa," and renditions of favorites like "Trouble No More" and "Statesboro Blues."

Live recordings from Fleetwood Mac’s two sold-out shows at The Forum in 1982 during the Mirage Tour will be featured in a new collection from Rhino.

Be clear from the git-go: this three-CD, 60-song set, which consists solely of rarities, demos, alternate takes, and unissued performances from 1964-66, should only be acquired by serious fans of the band. It's not the place to start, and most listeners would be better served by picking up a greatest hits disc or the original Autumn albums. If you do love the band, though, it's an excellent journey through the back waters of their early repertoire. The Brummels rarely wrote or recorded anything lousy, and this presents interesting, substantially different versions of officially released songs like "Laugh, Laugh" and "Just a Little"; and quite a few demos that have never before seen the light. The beautifully sad harmonies and glittering guitar arrangements are usually present, and the compositions–even the totally unissued ones–are usually quite strong. From a historical viewpoint, it's interesting in that it presents a lot of previously unheard Sal Valentino-penned tunes (Ron Elliott wrote most of the songs that ended up on official releases). The sound is superb, as are the liner notes.
