Screenplaying is a compilation album by British singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on 9 November 1993 by Vertigo Records internationally and Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The album contains previously released tracks from Knopfler's soundtrack albums Cal (1984), Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989), The Princess Bride (1987), and Local Hero (1983). In his review for AllMusic, William Ruhlmann gave the album four and a half out of five stars, writing, "The music is reminiscent of the calmer parts of Dire Straits songs: melodic, lyrical, and touching."

As a designer of sound units and amplifiers in the '70s, this German artist (real name is Jurgen Krehan) made a natural progression into composing for electronic instruments at the end of the decade when he formed the avant-garde duo Tycoon with Rudolf Lager. In the mid-'80s, he struck out on his own and released a number of recordings on the German Sky label, in addition to composing soundtracks for film and television. His style combines primarily lush environmental soundscapes with the delicate percussive textures of bamboo, gongs, and windchimes.

This is probably the most unlikely thing you'll ever expect from the Police: them playing full-on prog rock complete with Mellotron. OK, so the idea is actually coming from electronic keyboardist/symphony conducter Eberhard Schoener, but he released two albums with Police members in it in 1978, Flashback and Video Magic (the German original, not the compilation featuring tracks from both). Sting and Andy Summers are on both, but Stewart Copeland only appeared on Flashback, while Evert Fraterman filled in Copeland's shoes on Video Magic. Andy Summers had already appeared on several Eberhard Schoener albums as far back as 1975…

Joined by Andy Summers (of The Police) on guitar and the other members of the band, The Secret Society, Schoener's Moog, Mellotron and keyboards lay a unique foundation for Gregorian vocals… It is recordings like this that show the timelessness of this musical genre.

The Talisman is the 7th ambient atmospheric space CD from Max Corbacho. Eleven compositions created between 2004 and 2006, based on new, on the edge, harmonic and textural explorations. Intense, light, dark and purely atmospheric, most of these songs were composed during various, long, deep meditative improvisation sessions.

Borrowing a page from his old colleague Brian Eno's catalog, Manzanera delved into the ambient music scene with this release, and he did very well. This is an excellent album full of layered sounds and relaxing melodies. Manzanera teamed up with Paul Williams and Andy Grossart, formed a short-lived band by the name of Nowomowa, and recorded this one CD. It is interesting to note that all of the songs were recorded live off of the floor, with no overdubs. This is quite an achievement given the genre of music. But it does add an element of edge to the music. Compiled from the soundtrack from the film of the same name, Manzanera was able to put together a more complete picture of this music when he reissued it on CD in 1999, and he shifted the artist credit to himself, as opposed to releasing it as the band name. Commercially speaking, this was a wise move. Manzanera fans will enjoy this, as well as fans of ambient music.

Gliding ambient serenity with hypnotic hand drumming. Max Corbacho's first CD drifts over the listener like soft sand and silk, weightless wafts and gossamer veils of synthetic tone rising and falling in delicate harmony. The tone is light and dreamy, floatational and airy - atmospheric rather than oceanic, skybound rather than subterranean. The percussive content is confined to the first four pieces - here gentle loops comprised of organic beats with an ethnic flavour roll round evenly, trance-inducing, repeating until a part of the fabric of the environment. As the album progresses the introspective nature of the music increases - the beautiful Erosion lulling and spacious leading into the final three beatless tracks. The shadows pull in somewhat toward the end, Vestiges opening with a twilight moodiness that seems to open into a clear night - the listener a solitary presence in a vast panorama.

Lagoon is an electronic music classic by Nik Tyndall. On the Hearts of Space label, it is his first album with widespread distribution in the U.S. This space music is cozy and inviting. There are no hard edges. The gentle flow of the soundscape conjures imagery of a tropical paradise. The organic atmospheres caress listeners like a warm ocean breeze.
Like Tyndall's other works, Lagoon is rich with layers of organic sound that evoke water, windchimes, gongs, and gamelan to create the sensation of a floating paradise. The seven tracks flow smoothly into one another, creating a soothing tropical paradise.

Acclaimed pianist Joep Beving and Berlin-based producer and cellist Maarten Vos share their first collaborative album, 'vision of contentment', released via Nils Frahm’s LEITER label. It follows work together on 2019’s 'Henosis', Beving’s third album, which came about after the two musicians shared a bill in Amsterdam in 2018. Mixed by Frahm at LEITER studio in Berlin’s famed Funkhaus complex, where Vos also has his studio, the LP contains eight brand new compositions and is available on vinyl as well as via all digital platforms.

Brian Eno has announced the first-ever collection of his film and television music. It’s titled, appropriately enough, Film Music 1976 – 2020. The album includes songs and themes from classic films like David Lynch’s Dune, Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting, Jonathan Demme’s Married to the Mob, and Michael Mann’s Heat. Film Music will be released on November 13 via UMC. Eno’s work in film, television, and documentary scores and soundtracks spans five decades. He has crafted complete scores for over 20 films. Film Music includes some of Eno’s more recognizable compositions, in addition to seven previously unreleased tracks.
