Eric Clapton, original name Eric Patrick Clapp, (born March 30, 1945, Ripley, Surrey, England), British rock musician who was a highly influential guitarist in the late 1960s and early ’70s and later became a major singer-songwriter.

Standard Coltrane consists of tracks recorded in 1958 but only released in 1962 to capitalize on Coltrane's growing popularity throughout the 60s. The material on the album consists of well known music from Broadway or films, mostly ballads, recorded with the bulk of the Miles Davis band of the day: Wilbur Harden on trumpet and flugelhorn, Red Garland on piano, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Jimmy Cobb. This is a prime example of Coltrane in the middle of his signature "sheets of sound" period.

Ballads is a jazz album by John Coltrane. It was recorded in December 1961 and 1962, and released on the Impulse! label in March 1963. Critic Gene Lees stated that the quartet had never played the tunes before. "They arrived with music-store sheet music of the songs" and just before the recordings, they "would discuss each tune, write out copies of the changes they'd use, semi-rehearse for a half hour and then do it". Each piece was recorded in one take, except for "All or Nothing at All". In 2008, the album was a recipient of the Grammy Hall of Fame award.

One of the many consistently impressive things about Jimmy Smith is his ability to evoke different moods. "I’m Movin' On" is no exception. Smith's trio moves from the irresistible, laid-back groove of the title track, through the cowboy lope of 'Hotel Happiness' and soul-drenched blues ballads like 'T'aint No Use' to the lush, romantic rendering of 'What Kind Of Fool Am I', in which Smith's organ conjures soft, floating clouds of sound. The release is distinguished by the guitar work of Grant Green, whose brilliantly measured, stylish solos perfectly augment Smith's thick, intense leads. The album was recorded in 1963, but not released on the Blue Note label until 1967.

The third post-Supremes album from Diana Ross, released in 1971, launched her into the British top 10 and was certified silver, her most successful solo outing in the UK to that point. Both the title track and Remember Me were also top 10 British hit singles, while Remember Me broke into the US top 20.
