In the folk tradition: The Duo Ausma – comprising Vizma Zvaigzne (mezzo-soprano) and Theduardo Prasetyo (guitar) – interprets songs by Franz Schubert, Manuel de Falla, and Xavier Montsalvatge on their new GENUIN album in their unique way. The two musicians explore the boundaries of the concept of "homeland": In the songs of the great Catalan composer Montsalvatge, who mixes Caribbean sounds with the music of his homeland and the tonal languages of the 20th century, as well as in those of Schubert. The early Romantic treasures of the latter, accompanied by guitars, take on an unusual color, evoking the intimacy of the Viennese Schubertiades in our mind's eye.

All Mornin' Long is a jazz album by pianist Red Garland and his quintet. It was originally issued in 1958 on the Prestige label and catalogued as PRLP 7130. It features only three pieces, which belong to the hard bop subgenre and distinguish themselves by being fast-paced and bluesy. Critic Ira Gitler found the album satisfactory and said that the eponymous first piece was a "many-splendored, deep-dish demonstration of feeling, mood and melody".

Breakfast in America is the sixth studio album by the British rock band Supertramp. It was recorded in 1978 at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles. The album won two Grammy Awards in 1980, and holds an RIAA certification of quadruple platinum. It became Supertramp's biggest-selling album, with more than 4 million copies sold in the US alone, and was No. 1 on Billboard Pop Albums Chart for six weeks in the spring and summer of 1979. The album also hit No. 1 in Norway, Austria, Canada, Australia and France; in France it is one of the five biggest-selling albums of all time.

"Among Simon Rattle's first concert programmes as the new chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra was Gustav Mahler's Sixth Symphony. The performances marked the beginning of a new chapter in Mahler interpretation, for Rattle, like his predecessors Jansons, Maazel and Kubelík, is an ardent admirer of the composer. Wallin’s concerto for the traditional Chinese instrument, the sheng, features award-winning artist Wu Wei, and his violin concerto the rapidly-rising violin star Eldbjørg Hemsing. Wallin’s Spirit for electric bass guitar and orchestra was written for Ida Nielsen, voted as one of the most notable bass players in the world, as well as Prince’s bassist.

During his lifetime, Oskar Merikanto (1868–1924) was the most popular composer in Finnish homes. Even today, especially at weddings and funerals, his pieces are widely heard and performed. Merikanto was an excellent pianist and organist and possessed a particular gift for writing memorable melodies. Enjoying great popularity, he wrote over 200 songs, a number of duets, several choral works and nearly 200 piano works. To mark the 100th anniversary of Merikanto's death in 2024, Waltteri Torikka has recorded 29 of his songs. Torikka topped the Finnish pop charts for 3 weeks in 2018, performs frequently in European opera festivals and is a frequent visitor on Finland’s top television programmes.
