Gonna Take a Miracle is the fifth album by New York City-born singer, songwriter and pianist Laura Nyro, with assistance by vocal trio Labelle. It was released on Columbia Records in November 1971, one year after its predecessor, Christmas and the Beads of Sweat. The album is Nyro's only all-covers album, and she interprets mainly 1950s and 1960s soul and R&B standards, using Labelle as a traditional back-up vocal group. In 2005, music magazine The Word voted Gonna Take a Miracle among the 60 Best Underrated Albums of All Time.

UK three CD anthology from Edward Ball, a celebration of his work and the perfect introduction to Edward's world, from the teenage DIY punk and power pop of 'O'Level and Teenage Filmstars through the indie mod of The Times to Ball's years at the Creation label. 61 tracks, cherry picked from his wonderfully wide-ranging musical journey. Highlights include The Times' smashing 1981 debut single, 'Red With Purple Flashes', their 1982 fan favourite, 'I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape' inspired by cult TV series The Prisoner, the irresistible 1996 solo near-hit, 'The Mill Hill Self Hate Club' and the full 10:35 version of Love Corporation's 'Give Me Some Love' with stunning production by Andy Weatherall from 1991. Plus a previously unreleased gem for the anthology, 'Song To The Lighthouse', an out- take from his soundtrack to the 2010 Carol Morley film The Edge. The Whaam! Label set up by Edward Ball with the Television Personalities' Dan Treacy and Ball's own Artpop! Label were a direct inspiration for Alan McGee to set up Creation Records who signed Edward in 1988. Brit Pop era solo albums saw Edward joined by musical friends such as Ride's Andy Bell, Nick Heyward and members of The Boo Radleys while Ball's dance and world music influenced project Love Corporation were remixed by Andy Weatherall, Danny Rampling and Monkey Mafia. Ball also resurrected The Times and Teenage Filmstars monikers at Creation, under the former name Ball melded indie and dance music before Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica', while, with the latter, he embraced psychedelic noise.

For the first time ever on CD, brings together two landmark albums by veteran blues master JOHN HAMMOND - Source Point (1971) and I'm Satisfied (1972). Originally recorded for Columbia, these two albums are the missing links in a career charted by a series of popular recordings for Vanguard and Atlantic. Hammond began his career on the New York coffeehouse scene at the beginning of the first blues renaissance of the early '60s, and these albums confirm his status as one of the finest interpreters of Chicago blues. These recordings show Hammond as a more than capable band leader playing electric as well as acoustic guitar on some of the best Chicago style electric blues ever recorded.

Rev-Ola's 25-track Hello Hello: The Best of Claudine Longet collection covers a wide range of the French pop siren's numerous recordings between her 1967 eponymous debut and 1972's Let's Spend the Night Together. The remastered recordings of '60s vocal pop standards like the infectious title cut, "Look of Love," "Man in a Raincoat" and "Walk in the park" sound as smooth as ever, and the lengthy liner notes provided by Steve Stanley cover the occasionally controversial chanteuse's short career with enough zeal to warrant more than a cursory perusal.

Salisbury is the second album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. The album features forays into both jazz-fusion on "The Park", and progressive rock on the band's first large-scale composition, the 16-minute title track featuring a 24-piece orchestra. It also includes the largely acoustic ballad "Lady In Black." The connection of the artwork to the title is readily explained. Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, is an Army training-area. On the front of the album sleeve is a British Chieftain tank. The original LP release was a gatefold-sleeve. Inside is a b/w picture of a British tank of the First World War, over which were printed Hensley's comments on each track. Later reissues would be in a single sleeve. The American release featured a different sleeve image, as did the original Canadian pressings. Future Canadian pressings used the UK artwork.

British progressive rock band, early 1970s. Glencoe was one of those bands people tend to overlook, which is a pity since they have a surplus of significant music to offer. Having recorded two albums under the Forever More nameplate, in 1971 the four principals (drummer Stuart Francis, bassist Alan Gorrie, and guitarists Onnie McIntyre and Mick Strode, decided to reinvent themselves as Glencoe. Before the band could record anything Gorrie and McIntyre bailed, reappearing in The Average White Band. Francis and Strode quickly recruited keyboard player Graham Maitland and bassist Norman Watt-Roy. The quartet hit the road touring the English club and college circuit, but in early 1972 Strode quit. He was replaced by guitarist John Turnbull, whose resume included time with The Chosen Few, ARC, and Skip Biffery.

A much more polished set than its predecessor, Midnight Son is a particularly effective effort with several numbers that remained in Son Seals on-stage repertoire for quite some time – "Telephone Angel," "On My Knees," the jumping "Four Full Seasons of Love." The addition of a brisk horn section enhanced his staccato guitar attack and uncompromising vocals, rendering this his best set to date.

The only Beatles album to occasion negative, even hostile reviews, there are few other rock records as controversial as Let It Be. First off, several facts need to be explained: although released in May 1970, this was not their final album, but largely recorded in early 1969, way before Abbey Road. Phil Spector was enlisted in early 1970 to do some post-production work, but did not work with the band as a unit, as George Martin and Glyn Johns had on the sessions themselves; Spector's work was limited to mixing and some overdubs. And, although his use of strings has generated much criticism, by and large he left the original performances to stand as is: only "The Long and Winding Road" and (to a lesser degree) "Across the Universe" and "I Me Mine" get the wall-of-sound layers of strings and female choruses.
