For the last 20 years London-based author and party organiser Tim Lawrence has dedicated himself to excavating the history of New York City party culture and bringing some of the most powerful aspects of that culture to London’s dance scene, from where it has ricocheted around the world. Having conducted the first set of major interviews with David Mancuso, Lawrence started to put on Loft-style Lucky Cloud Sound System parties with David and friends in London in June 2003. In early 2004 he published Love Saves the Day: A History of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-79, which tracked the influence of the Loft on the wider New York DJ, dance and disco scene. In 2009 his biography of the iconic musician Arthur Russell became the first book to map the wider downtown music scene. These beautifully written and politically insightful histories have educated, inspired and celebrated the previously overlooked foundations of contemporary dance music.

Alchemy is Guy and Howard Lawrence’s first album to be independently released via their AWAL imprint, Apollo Records, following their departure from Capitol Records. “This record is a celebration of us feeling liberated right now,” Guy Lawrence said in a statement. “We’re no longer signed to a major record label. We’re not going to tour this record. We can do whatever we like and be super creative.”

Golden Features and his team approached me last year wanting to conceptualise a new art direction for their latest album. The artist was exploring a new style of music and internal change and the album and art direction was to reflect that. We emerged with art direction that resonated with the artist and the story they are trying to tell.

Archetype is an exorcism of South London’s underground spirit. It’s a sound-world which draws on its ancestral echoes as equally as it captures the pulse of a city on the edge of evolution. The twelve-track collaborative record is the product of two magnetised forces who should almost repel: producer, composer and keyboard player Joe Armon-Jones, and producer / DJ Maxwell Owin. At the fore of the scene south of the river, they draw on different instincts, different disciplines, different strengths - and converge them to make something which is both challenging and startlingly fresh. Brussels-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Kuna Maze, presents his debut album ‘Night Shift’, a concept record built around the journey into the night. Musically the release evokes the nostalgia of sweaty and smoky jazz clubs but through the prism of modern electronic music. This ethos is projected through Kuna Maze’s live band, a melting pot between the jazz and club culture of the then and now. From spearheading France’s jazz-house and electronica scenes, to amassing millions of streams for lauded tracks such as Ode To Love, Manhattan To Brooklyn and Artifice, Tour- Maubourg is a flag bearer for modern French electronic music. Reminiscent of St Germain from years gone by, his maiden album - Paradis Artificiels - received critical acclaim upon its release two years ago.

Daft Punk have shared a previously unreleased track, 'GLBTM (Studio Outtake)', which appears on the forthcoming 10th anniversary reissue of their album 'Random Access Memories'. The track is an early, raw version of album cut 'Give Life Back To Music', before any further production touches were added to it, and is one of a number of demos and outtakes from sessions for 'Random Access Memories' that will appear on the forthcoming reissue of the album. The 10th anniversary edition of the record was originally announced in February, and will feature the full album in addition to nine bonus cuts.

100% GALCHER was by all accounts a game-changer when it landed in 2013 as an hour of original music from a relatively unknown producer ushered in by the beloved mix series Blowing Up The Workshop. Galcher Lustwerk's signature sound — a smoky stream-of-consciousness baritone shadow-boxing with beats, informed by funk, rap, rhythm, and blues — felt like an epiphany, impossibly hypnotic and complete. Resident Advisor writes, "100% GALCHER laid out a louche, lysergic and resolutely black take on deep house."

With features from the likes of SOAK, London Grammar and Domino’s own Panda Bear, Stellar Drifting is George’s most ambitious project to date. George keeps his roots deep within the electronic music scene, bringing in pop melodies, club rhythms and other UK dance music elements whilst pushing the boundaries of his sound.
