Grand Slam’s album Hit the Ground has been given a makeover and will be re-released as Hit the Ground – Revised on June 7th via Silver Lining Music. The re-issue has been remastered and features new Artwork. Grand Slam was formed in 1984 by Phil Lynott and guitarist Laurence Archer before being forced to break up in 1986. Originally released in 2019, Hit The Ground signalled the Archer (guitar), Mike Dyer (vocals), Benjy Reid (drums) and Rocky Newton (bass) Grand Slam incarnation and is an unequivocal part of the band’s re-energising story. With stylistic salutes and tips to the legendary Lynott melding with the energy and vocal performance of Dyer and Archer’s fiery fretboard forays in cuts such as the crunchy “Hit The Ground” and the thrusting “Crazy”, Grand Slam stride confidently back into the conscience of classic rock devotees who didn’t know what they were missing. Released in 1984, Idioblast is a lost classic, a future shock narrative ahead of its time, and yet completely of its era, like few artifacts before or since. The cover tips you off from the jump—a crude but effective collage featuring classic Fekner slogans like Toxic Junkie, Growth Decay and Soft Brains Watch The Screen And Buy The Jeans. In an uncanny and tragic coincidence, the very first lyric on the album—“The place to be is on the space shuttle/if you’re brave enough to get on it”—seems to anticipate the Challenger disaster just two years later. But for the most part, the tracks on Idioblast directly reference the concepts that inspired Fekner’s visual art.

Service was the seventh and, at the time, final studio album by Yellow Magic Orchestra. The band dissolved the following year after a world tour, but would later reform in 1993 for a one-off reunion album, Technodon. Like ×∞Multiplies, it contains a mixture of YMO songs and comedy sketches performed by Super Eccentric Theater, or S.E.T. The first Dutch/German edition of the album omitted the sketches, effectively cutting the album's length in half.

This recording features 2 musical giants, the late Ray Brown & the late Gene Harris. Ray Brown leaves us in no doubt why he was always regarded as the jazz world’s No.1 bass player. Gene Harris demonstrates his ability to bring the ‘blues’ feel that is the very essence of jazz, to his performance of any tune on the album. Groove Note Records owner Ying Tan produced the SACD edition of the album with the SACD mastering credits going to David Glasser at Airshow Mastering in Boulder, Colorado.

Naughty Boys is the sixth album by Yellow Magic Orchestra, recorded from October 1982 to March 1983. It contains the pop-oriented single "Kimi ni Mune Kyun", as well as a "preview" of "You've Got to Help Yourself", which was released in its full version on the companion album Naughty Boys Instrumental, and again with vocals on Service. A remix album, Naughty Boys Instrumental contained nearly the entire Naughty Boys album as instrumental tracks in an entirely different running order, as well as the b-side to "Kimi ni, mune kyun.", "Chaos Panic"; and the full instrumental version of "You've Got to Help Yourself", which was released in "preview" form on the previous album.

We caused a stir of supernatural proportions last year when we reissued Coven's debut album Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls, complete with naked victim centerfold and instructions for a black mass. And Blood on the Snow, which features a violin-playing devil on the cover and images of a strange occult ritual on the peat fold, promises more of the same. But in the safe hands of the Who producer Shel Talmy, this release on the Buddah label from 1974 presents a much milder, even, dare we say, benevolent version of the band that launched the entire genre of satanic rock.
