The album comprises nine original, mostly instrumental tracks written and produced by Williams, and features her on various guitars, banjo, calabash drum, tap shoes, and kora. Williams is joined on the album by an eclectic cast of collaborators - including Immanuel Wilkins on saxophone, Dom Flemons on rhythm bones, Aoife O'Donovan on vocals, William Tyler on guitar, and many others - creating a folk music that reflects the wide range of musical influences that have inspired her throughout her life.

Joan Baez is the self-titled debut album by folk singer Joan Baez. The album was recorded in the summer of 1960 and released the same year. The original release featured 13 traditional folk songs.

"It gets confusing with his name but this is Michael (Peter) Smith from Chicago. Folk singer, married to another folk singer, Barbara Barrow. Michael wrote the classic The Dutchman which became a folk "hit" for Steve Goodman back in 1972. This 1974 album on the Bell label is the debut for Michael and Barbara with the interesting title, "Mickey And Babs Get Hot." It does have a version of The Dutchman on it, as well as Steal Away and The Ballad Of Dan Moody among others (but sadly not Spoon River, also done by Goodman). My all time favorite song here however is Osceola's Last Words, originally a poem by Florida poet laureate Will McLean. It is a strange but powerful ballad in the hands of these two and easily my very favorite version. Bill Staines also did a fine version. This rarity is not a GREAT album but a worthy pickup for those songs mentioned."

Like generations of her ancestors who have lived along Virginia's coast, she, too, has weathered life's hurricanes and battering winds - and witnessed it's luminous beauty - and she wanted to capture that juxtaposition on this record.

The third volume of Bare Bones collects 16 alternate duo arrangements of songs that were released on Garcia/Grisman, Not For Kids Only, Shady Grove, Been All Around This World and even Volume II of this series. The program includes many of the very first performances of the classic tunes the duo recorded. This project is available in the sonically superior Hi-Definition (24-bit, 96 kHz) format.

Whereas Native Harrow’s previous records have grown increasingly more expansive, both stylistically and in terms of the musical forces applied, “Divided Kind” counters this categorical unfurling with a lateral move towards the ground, with both feet firmly planted, in a folk-soul-rock sound that still explores their love of RnB, jazz, country, and farther-flung inspirations while simultaneously digging in, with more authority, to the musical world they have constructed. Or maybe they’re still searching, and “Divided Kind” is what’s next. Their refusal to be put in a box, and their relentless insistence on catering to the demands of each individual song suggests the latter is likely the truth at hand.

I just steal em from Jody Stecher" - Jerry Garcia (on his folk interpretations). Jody Stecher has made an intense and memorable new recording. The repertoire is outstanding, the feel is fabulous, the vocal support and instrumental detail by Mile Twelve is superb and very personal. The band is on fire, ignited by the spark of Jody's impassioned singing and guitar. The format is recognizable as old-style blues-tinged, old-time flavored bluegrass but nothing here is generic or predictable. "Instant Lonesome and The Twinkle Brigade" is an uplifting, riveting album of music made by alert, able, committed musicians with something to say and the musical means to say it.

The Deslondes are a five-piece group of dudes from New Orleans. The band splits up songwriting and lead vocal duties among its five members, continuing its democratic ethos and musical versatility. Multiple members have released solo recordings between their sophomore release, Hurry Home (2016) and their previous release Ways & Means (2022). Now, with their latest record, Roll It Out the band continues to build on their inventive take on New Orleans country and R&B.

Eggy, the New Haven, CT rock quartet known for its improv-focused live shows, has released its long-awaited sophomore album, Waiting Game. The ten-track LP, recorded with producer James Petralli (White Denim) in early 2023, marks the first full-length studio release from Eggy since 2019’s Watercolor Days.
