Vienna has a habit of throwing up beautiful settings for unique events. The Summer Night Concert (“Sommernachtskonzert” in German) is a prime example.

Riley B. King (September 16, 1925 – May 14, 2015), known professionally as B.B. King, was an American blues singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer.

Antonin Dvořák's Sixth Symphony secured him international fame following its premiere 1881. Canadian harpist Valérie Milot chose the title of this album to acknowledge the circle of valued musical colleagues she has worked with over the years and to reference the loop as a musical concept, a seemingly simple melodic or rhythmical motif that serves as both framework and source of inspiration. The programme features six complementary approaches, ranging from music by John Cage, Gentle Giant and Frank Zappa to the premiere of violinist Antoine Bareil’s Castille 1382, written especially for Milot.

"La Cuna" is an album by GRAMMY Award-winning percussionist Ray Barretto, released by CTI label in 1981. Barretto perfectly straddles Afro-Cuban rhythms and grooving jazz fusion. Synths, sax and drums take charge in “Doloroso”, and the jubilant “La Cuna” boasts rumba rhythms that invigorate with experimental piano keys. With “Pastime Paradise”, a rendition of the groundbreaking Stevie Wonder hit, Barretto adds layers of buoyant, festive percussion to the soulful masterpiece; on the closing “Cocinando”, he maneuvers through conga acrobatics and fierce brass melodies with impressive finesse.

Solomon King is an American singer popular throughout the 1960's and 70's. Raised on pop standards and country music, he made his debut stage appearance at the age of ten and began performing professionally at 21. He was the first white singer to open for jazz legend Billie Holiday. An imposing figure at 6'8", Levy first worked under the stage name Randy Leeds, in 1965 he resumed his solo aspirations, assuming the name Solomon King. This is his 'Gospel' album released in 1965 on RCA label.

In 1906, Komitas gave a concert and lecture in Paris. Debussy came on stage after the concert and knelt before the Armenian composer (who was also a priest, a singer and a pioneer of ethnomusicology), exclaiming: ‘I bow before your genius, Reverend Father.’

This album is a story of family and friendship. Positioned between homage to a father figure and modernity, the viola da gamba sonatas of Carl Philipp Emanuel and Johann Christian Bach are a revealing element in the history of the Bach family and its ties of friendship with two families of virtuoso instrumentalists, the Abels and the Hesses, who had already inspired the work of Johann Sebastian.
