A tribute to the heralds of American electronic music of the 80s and 90s, Homework, the first album produced in “bedroom producer” mode by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, immediately caused a sensation when it was released in early 1997, carried by hits like Da Funk (their first track released two years earlier on the Scottish label Soma), Revolution 909 (a direct reference to the legendary house and techno rhythm machine, the TR-909), Burnin', Teachers (which cites Paul Johnson, Louie Vega, Green Velvet, Joey Beltram) or Around the World, passed down to posterity with the clip by Michel Gondry. The Dafts, in addition to this live from 1997 swung without warning on Twitch, accompany this reissue of a dozen remixes, all released in the wake of the album between 1997 and 1998, but only on vinyl.

There are eight remixes of Around the World, half of which come from the star duo of New York house, Kenny Dope and Louie Vega alias Masters At Work, who do a magnificent job of reconstruction on the Mellow Mix, a real gem with all the deep house markers of the time. We will also remember the very mental remix of I:Cube, another champion of the French Touch, released on vinyl in 1997, and the almost booty Vice Mix of Motorbass (the duo formed by the late Philippe Zdar and Étienne de Crécy). Not bad also the three remixes of Burnin, released together on an EP in September 1997, with the king of Chicago DJ Sneak, who softens the version with this rather smooth keyboard sample, the German DJ Ian Pooley, who makes it bounce with his very intense Cut Up Mix, while the duo Slam (founders of the Soma label) deliver a rave version with this furious rise. Raw Daft Punk, revisited for the club by the cream of house/techno producers of the time: we couldn't come full circle better.
