Excellently recorded recital from Brilliant Classics. The piano and violin are ideally balanced in a warm acoustic of exactly the right size. The piano also sounds perfect, rich and full.
The Tchaikovsky works come off well, though it is the two French sonatas that are perhaps the main feature, and they do not disappoint. The Debussy particularly is played extremely well, light and fresh with ideal unity between Ferschtman and her partner Bas Verheijden .

The Franck is also fine, though maybe some of the tempo choices are a little deliberate, making the work sound bigger than it actually is. This moderate pacing works well in the reflective passages in the Recitativo-Fantasia which are played with a pleasing sense of mystery and nostalgia, though very occasionally in the Allegro ben moderato opening movement the players could move forward just a little more.
Still as chamber music playing this is very enjoyable, especially in such ideal sound.
