MSC Software, part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has released Simufact Forming 2023.2. Upgrade to Simufact Forming 2023.2 and benefit from the new features that improve your daily work.
What's New in Simufact Forming 2023.2
The key highlights of Simufact Forming 2023.2, include:
- Significant speed-up for sheet forming simulations: The new accelerated modus optimises the simulation calculations of sheet metal forming up to 3x. This mode can be found in the process definition. When selecting this mode, simulation settings defined by our experts are automatically applied to achieve significant acceleration while maintaining accuracy.
- FLD support for 2D axisymmetric and 2D planar simulations: In Simufact Forming 2021.1 we introduced the newly implemented Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) analysis for 3D simulations only. In Simufact Forming 2023.2 we have now extended the FLD analysis to 2D axisymmetric and 2D planar simulations. You can now benefit from the fast and accurate simulation of 2D axisymmetric and 2D planar simulations and evaluate the FLD.
Improvements in Die Life Analysis:
- Generation of Auto EN and SN curves using hardness value: In the previous versions it was only possible to generate the Auto-EN and SN curves using the ultimate tensile strength (UTS). However, UTS is not often used for tool materials. Therefore, in the latest version, UTS can be determined using the hardness value specified in most tool material certificates. We support 3 common hardness values: Vickers (HV), Rockwell (HRC) and Brinell (HBW).
- Result variables now support logarithmic distribution: In the latest version, the die life can be displayed logarithmically for a better visualization of the die life (see figure below).
- Reload and Exchange CAD Geometries: A new function has been implemented that automatically updates the geometry in Simufact Forming GUI when the original CAD geometry is changed. This allows the user to always automatically use the most up-to-date geometry, even if he has to make many changes to the CAD files. This saves time and avoids mistakes.
Note: Currently only available for STL files. Other file formats are in work for future versions.
- Appearance of Simufact Forming has been changed: Look forward to our new Simufact Forming Icon and benefit from our modernised Software GUI to make your process simulation easy and intuitive.

Simufact Forming is an established software solution for the simulation of metal forming manufacturing processes. The software covers all essential areas of forming technology: forging, cold forming, sheet metal forming, all major incremental processes and mechanical joining. Simufact Forming provides support in microstructure simulation, calculation of die load, material flow and prediction of material properties in the course of conventional and inductive heat treatment. Furthermore, thermo-mechanical joining methods of pressure welding are also supported.
