Order and Chaos in Dynamical Astronomy

Order and Chaos in Dynamical Astronomy by George Contopoulos
English | PDF | 2002 | 633 Pages | ISBN : 3540433600 | 57.8 MB

There have been many books on Dynamical Astronomy up to now. Many are devoted to Celestial Mechanics, but there are also several books on Stellar and Galactic Dynamics. The first books on stellar dynamics dealt mainly with the statistics of stellar motions (e. g. Smart's "Stellar Dynamics" (1938), or Trumpler and Weaver's "Statistical Astronomy" (1953)). A classical book in this field is Chandrasekhar's "Principles of Stellar Dynamics" (1942) that dealt mainly with the time of relaxation, the solutions of Liouville's equation, and the dynamics of clusters. In the Dover edition of this book (1960) an extended Appendix was added, containing the statistical mechanics of stellar systems, a quite "modern" subject at that time. The need for a classroom book was covered for several years by the book of Mihalas and Routly "Galactic Astronomy" (1969).

Nonlinear and Complex Dynamics: Applications in Physical, Biological, and Financial Systems

Nonlinear and Complex Dynamics: Applications in Physical, Biological, and Financial Systems by José António Tenreiro Machado
English | PDF,EPUB | 2011 | 328 Pages | ISBN : 1461402301 | 13.4 MB

Nonlinear Dynamics and Complex Systems describes chaos, fractal, and stochasticities within celestial mechanics, financial systems, and biochemical systems. Part I discusses methods and applications in celestial systems and new results in such areas as low energy impact dynamics, low-thrust planar trajectories to the moon and earth-to-halo transfers in the sun, earth and moon.

Three Body Dynamics and Its Applications to Exoplanets

Three Body Dynamics and Its Applications to Exoplanets By Dr. Zdzislaw Musielak, Billy Quarles
English | EPUB | 2017 | 115 Pages | ISBN :3319582259 |1.75 MB

This brief book provides an overview of the gravitational orbital evolution of few-body systems, in particular those consisting of three bodies. The authors present the historical context that begins with the origin of the problem as defined by Newton, which was followed up by Euler, Lagrange, Laplace, and many others. Additionally, they consider the modern works from the 20th and 21st centuries that describe the development of powerful analytical methods by Poincare and others.
