Toshiko is amazing. Her improvisations on NewYork are intertaining to say the least. On one track she actually incorperates the sounds of a baseball game into the background. Check out her big band work with Lew Tabacan.
Lucette Bourdin and Darrell Burgan return to Earth Mantra with their second collaborative release, an album of soothing ambient electronica entitled "Prasantih". Sometime in winter 2009-2010, Lucette and Darrell began working together on some cross-composed music, to see what sort of results might emerge from such a collaboration. Living thousands of miles apart, face to face recording was impossible. So instead they embarked upon a free-form style of composition, where each artist recorded bits of solo material called doodles, which were then shared mutually and remixed and reworked into whole new pieces. The result was a set of lovely ambient tracks that often bear little resemblance to the individual doodles that went into them.
Raised at the intersection of two cultures, drummer, composer, producer, and improviser Ranjit Barot comes from a family with deep ties to Indian classical traditions of music and dance, yet he spent considerable time absorbing western culture in England. That palpable dichotomy inhabits his music, as illustrated by his captivating international debut album Bada Boom. As a writer and producer, Barot honed his skills by crafting songs and scores for the thriving, prolific Indian film scene and working closely with other artists. Although capable on a range of instruments, his weapon of choice as a performer remains the western drum kit, on which he has cultivated a unique voice that internalizes and refracts his musical and cultural influences. As a drummer, he has performed alongside such formidable improvising composer/instrumentalists as John McLaughlin, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Charlie Mariano and Don Cherry.

2010 two CD collection from the Britpop band led by vocalist Brett Anderson and featuring guitarist Bernard Butler, now a renowned producer. Features all of Suede's biggest hits showcasing the group's early material with outstanding new production. This is the only Suede hits compilation that has been endorsed by the band. During the band's early years, they effectively instigated a new focus on British guitar music which had been largely eclipsed by Grunge before their emergence. Their inexorable rise saw them become one of the biggest groups in the country, a success which was replicated in many countries around the world. In 1999, after five studio albums, the group split. They returned triumphantly in March this year, playing three incredible and critically acclaimed shows including London's Royal Albert Hall in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The shows were hailed as a career high.

This 19-song compilation features a wide variety of artists from this small but influential island off the Senegalese coast. Opening with Cesaria Evora and an early tune, "Papa Joachim Paris," the album visits luminaries like Simentera, Paulino Vieira, and Tito Paris and introduces you to many less famous but deserving names. Real roots come from the Mindel Band with a raw violin and a perpetual groove. Luis Morais's band is jazzy and fun. Voz de Cabo Verde are sweet and homey. The album closes with a live, lush, yet ragged "Lundum" by Vieira and Celina Pereira, a perfect island tune of slight melody and lots of feeling.
Junior Wells (December 9, 1934 - January 15, 1998), born Amos Blakemore, was a blues vocalist and harmonica player based in Chicago who was famous for playing with Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Magic Sam, Lonnie Brooks, The Rolling Stones and Van Morrison.He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Arkansas. Wells moved to Chicago in 1948 and first made his mark at age 18 playing in Muddy Waters’ band. He later worked with Buddy Guy in the 1960s and recorded for Delmark Records.
Born Edward Taylor in Benoit, Mississippi, as a boy Taylor taught himself to play the guitar. He spent his early years playing at venues around Leland, Mississippi, where he taught his friend Jimmy Reed to play guitar. With a guitar style deeply rooted in the Mississippi Delta tradition, in 1949 Taylor moved to Chicago.While Taylor never achieved the stardom of some of his compatriots in the Chicago Blues scene, he nevertheless was an integral part of that era and is especially noted as a main accompanist for Jimmy Reed as well as working with John Lee Hooker, Big Walter Horton and others.[2] Taylor's own records "Big Town Playboy" and "Bad Boy" on Vee Jay Records became local hits in the 1950s.Taylor's son Eddie Taylor Jr. is a blues guitarist in Chicago, his stepson Larry Taylor is a blues drummer and vocalist, and his daughter Demetria is a blues vocalist in Chicago. . Taylor's wife Vera was the niece of bluesmen Eddie "Guitar" Burns and Jimmy Burns.

Earlier this year, Dial released a cheeky ode to the Chicago house music that's always served as such a foundational element to the label's sound in Efdemin's, well, naturally, Chicago. But, frankly, the Windy City might be even more relevant in setting the historical site for the much-anticipated debut album of Berlin-based American John Roberts, Glass Eights. Following a debut on John Daly's Feel Music and singles on Dial and its sister-label Laid, Roberts has quickly established himself as a young producer adept at designing almost classically textured and intricate Chicago deep house. Though certainly grounded in mournful or melancholy overtones, Roberts' best cuts exude a kind of blissful sadness, a contentment to linger in sorrow that owes a lot to the emotional release of genres like blues and jazz. Those touchstones can be heard more explicitly on Glass Eights, which folds jazzy grand piano runs, violins, upright bass and funky organs into Roberts' complex candlelit house.

Chicago Bob Nelson is a harmonica player and singer who is known for amalgamating Louisiana and Chicago blues styles. He is singular in being mentored by traditional rural southern blues harmonica practitioners and melding their approach with urban Chicago playing, thus creating his own distinctive sound.His family was a musical family. Bob's father, Versie Nelson, played upright bass and harmonica. From a very early age Bob accompanied Versie to house parties, backyard barbecues and Saturday night fish fries around Bogalusa where cajun music, zydeco and blues were performed.
