Funkadelic - Maggot Brain (1971)
Genre: Psych/Funk | MP3 | 256kbps VBR | 95Mb

Funkadelic's ultimate early classic (from 1971) remastered from the original masters for the first time in 15 years. "Maggot Brain" is rated by, amongst others, Mojo Magazine as an all-time classic. Their critics voted it the fourth greatest guitar album ever, beaten only by Jimi Hendrix and the Who. Guitarist Eddie Hazel's playing on the title track is nothing short of stunning. This 2005 reissue includes the original seven track album plus a bonus alternate mix of the album's title track. It also includes "Whole Lot Of BS", the non album B-side of the album's third single, "Hit It And Quit It", and the 45 "I Miss My Baby" recorded by US Music with Funkadelic

Even though it's Josh Homme's fun side project, EODM seems to be Jesse Hughes' life. This album rocks, with only a few missteps, from start to finish. The songs are short, raucous, randy (picture Austin Powers saying "randy"), and completely irrelevant to the great philosophical, psychological, and sociopolitical problems of our day. It's all good times and winking occult references.

Genre: Psychodelic/Blues Rock | FLAC+CUE | 200MB

Cheap Thrills is the second album from Big Brother and the Holding Company and their only studio album with Janis Joplin as primary lead vocalist. Though the album sounds like a live recording, most of it was in fact recorded in a studio with audience sounds overdubbed. In 2003, the album was ranked number 338 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The cover was drawn by underground cartoonist Robert Crumb. It is number 9 on Rolling Stone's list of 100 greatest album covers. The album was released in late August 1968 and reached number one on the Billboard charts in its eighth week in October 1968. It kept the number one spot for eight (nonconsecutive) weeks while the single, "Piece of My Heart," also became a huge hit.

The Mamas & the Papas - Greatest Hits (1998)
Gernre: Folk/Classic Rock | MP3 | 192 | 85Mb | RS

The Mamas and the Papas had a sound that helped define a portion of the 1960s. Their breezy folk classics had a bit of San Francisco psychedelia woven in, and, despite the sweet harmonies, there was also a noticeably dark feel to some of their more popular work. "California Dreamin'" and "Monday, Monday" both utilized enough minors to give them a spooky edge. Greatest Hits is an essential part of any audiophile's collection, especially if they don't have the original recordings that spawned the hits. "Dedicated to the One I Love" is almost ironic for its tenderness, considering the turmoil that rumbled through the band's interrelationships. While John and Michelle Phillips and Denny Doherty were all responsible for the success of the Mamas and the Papas, listening to this collection reveals that the late great Mama Cass was not only the heart but the soul of the band. Greatest Hits closes with her "Dream a Little Dream of Me," and serves as a touching tribute to Cass Elliot's talent.

Genre: Psych/Progressive Rock | MP3 | 192kbps | 60Mb | RS

An excellent album from this British progressive group recorded in 1969 by a band of mysterious pseudonyms. In fact, this was a formation of some of the biggest names in UK progressive rock including Simeon Sasparella & Njerogi Gategaka (aka Steve Hillage from Gong). The other 3 members Dave Stewart, Clive Brooks and Mont Campbell formed Egg. Originally released on Evolution this heavy, spacey keyboarddriven album is often compared to Pink Floyd's Saucer Full of Secrets. For fans of Egg, Gong, National Health and Caravan.

This album came out in 1977, the same year as Muddy Waters' excellent comeback-album "Hard Again", which Johnny Winter produced and played on. By and large, the Hellacopters return with a straightforward, basic rock and roll album on their release By the Grace of God. What I love about the Hellacopters' direction, as well as their contemporaries Soundtrack of our Lives, is the forgotten use of piano in rocking out. Due to their love of 60's - 70's punk - hard rock, it really comes through on this release. Great interplay between the rythmn section, guitars and drums…

Blind Melon - Soup (1995)
Genre: Alternative Rock | Mp3 | 320Kbps | 106MB | RS

Blind Melon is the number-one underappreciated band of the 1990s. It is a crime that the Bee Girl from the "No Rain" video is the image most think of when asked about Blind Melon. The truth is, this band was one of the most talented of their generation; nowhere else is this evidenced as well as on Soup, the band's 2nd full length album. The band trades in some jam elements from their debut in favor of concise, well written songs that act as a perfect representation of what this band was capable of. Unfortunately, Shannon Hoon's death left us to only imagine what could have come next.

Nothing like a traditional Irish band from California. All cynicism aside, Flogging Molly's hybrid of street punk and pub-rock is a ruckus of punch-drunk energy. Combining the folk of the Pogues with an Oi! blast by way of the Dropkick Murphys, their debut full-length Swagger provides a brew of rowdy party music that's perfect for any barroom brawl.

"All Time Greatest Hits" is proof of this band's lasting legacy, tragically ended in a 1977 plane crash that killed lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, whose awesome voice was matched only by his songwriting genius; third guitarist Steve Gaines, whose addition to the band added zest and maturity; his sister Cassie, who sang background; and original tour manager Dean Kilpatrick. What an infinite loss for the music world, and how lucky we are to be able to listen to the music they left behind.

Heartbreaker is the seventh and final album by English rock group Free, that provided them with one of their most successful singles, "Wishing Well". It was recorded in late 1972 after bassist Andy Fraser had left the band and while guitarist Paul Kossoff was ailing from an addiction to Mandrax (contemporary photographs show him looking gaunt and emaciated), and features a different line up to previous albums….

Free - Free at Last (1972)
Genre: Blues Rock | MP3 | 320Kbps | 125MB | RS

Free at Last is the sixth album (fifth studio album) by English rock band Free. The band had broken up in April 1971 due to differences between singer Paul Rodgers and bassist Andy Fraser, the drug problems of guitarist Paul Kossoff, and inconsistent record sales. The four members went their separate ways, but solo projects failed in all cases. Also, with the loss of the band, Kossoff degenerated further into severe depression; he felt guilty for, as he saw it, destroying the band, and this guilt only made the problem worse. It was this factor that led members of the band to set aside their differences and re-form, with the intention of potentially saving the guitarist's life.
