Along with Iggy Pop, Lou Reed has been one of the most outrageous artists of the 70s; an ambassador of the underground world that lives within each cosmopolitan city and always living life to the limit. With a remarkable literary talent and always pushing the limits sound wise, Lou became one of the most iconic artists ever, both as leader of The Velvet Underground and as a solo artist. The Many Faces Of Lou Reed is a journey through his side projects, little-known collaborations with artists such as bass player Fernando Saunders or legendary soul keyboardist Booker T.Jones; his live shows along the Velvet Underground and the Rock And Roll Heart tour (one of their most inspired). It is also a walk thru his immortal body of work, in the hands of artists who recognize him as their main influence. The Many Faces Of Lou Reed is a fundamental album for every rock music fan, a fantastic journey through unknown works, presented with extended liner notes, a luxurious cover art and remastered sound. Also…remember that it's not available on streaming platforms.

Initially formed by duo Martin Cockerham and Mark Francis in Bolton in 1968, the band expanded when Cockerham was a student in Canterbury at the end of 1969. The expanded line-up featured Martin Cockerham (guitar, vocals), Barbara Gaskin (lead vocals), Steve Borrill (bass) and Julian Cusack (violin, keyboards) and secured a contract with B&C Records in 1970. The band’s debut album, "St. Radigunds” was issued in 1971 and featured guest drummer Dave Mattacks and Tony Cox on VCS 3 Synthesiser. "St. Radigunds” is rightly hailed as a classic of the era and this Esoteric Recordings newly remastered edition celebrates this legendary album, featuring a booklet with new essay…

If the oftentimes unimaginative „Unplugged“ undertaking is to be interesting at all, it must not be done in a way that simply entails getting rid of any electric guitars, and playing the exact same songs and riffs on acoustic instruments. Klone have well understood this. Their latest studio offering, 2015’s critically acclaimed Here Comes The Sun, which made it to #1 of leading German Prog magazine ECLIPSED’s „album of the year“ list, already opened the doors to a more staid and deliberate approach to music, based on spacious arrangements which give every single note plenty of room to linger and breathe.

Jade Warrior's first album following Tony Duhig and Jon Field's emergence out of the psychedelic July captures them abandoning the best of that band's whimsical moodiness in favor of a symphonic spirituality epitomized from the outset by the soaring guitars that ecstatically slice through the opening "Traveller." Reminiscent, in places, of a less-precious successor to Quintessence and the Incredible String Band in that moods and esotericism do sometimes get the better of the band's more conventional music impulses, Jade Warrior is nevertheless a remarkable album, all the more so since its makers could readily have given the likes of Jethro Tull and the Moody Blues some serious competition in the mellifluous prog stakes…

Recorded at the same time (July 1972) at the same studio (Bavaria Studios, Munich) as Amon Düül II`s well known and of their best efforts 'Wolf City', Utopia was a common project by Amon Düül II producer and musician Olaf Kübler (saxophone, moog) and Düül bass player Lothar Meid. Using the synergy of the parallel sessions with the Wolf City recordings, Olaf Kübler appreciated Düüls singer Renate Knaup-Krötenschwanz as singer of 2 of the album tracks and Düül heads Weinzierl and Karrer on guitar and violin. There is also a different version of Deutsch-Nepal on the album. As Olaf Kübler reminds Deutsch-Nepal was originally planned to record only for the Utopia album. Musically Utopia has a lot in common with the Düül records 'Wolf City' and 'Viva la Trance' and slightly early Passport and Embryo influences…

This is another more than decent offering from this excellent band. The title track is, of course, off "The Masquerade Overture" (the bonus disc on the special edition of that album also has this single version on it!) Although most fans will have it on the album, this EP is worth having for the other three tracks on offer here.

This weirdly fascinating album consists of no fewer than 52 brief tracks, each of them averaging less than one minute in length, and all of them built around a strange sort of geographical-supernatural concept. The CD's insert booklet consists of the lyrics to the songs illustrated with creepily beautiful oil paintings by Ray O'Bannon, most of them featuring surreal images of death, decay, and foreboding.

In the twenty-first century, Anathema have often been mentioned in the same breath as Opeth and Porcupine Tree due to their increased movement towards thoughtful progressive rock structures. It hasn’t always been that way, of course. Like Opeth, the band began life as a totally different musical beast, playing in a melodic death metal style. Shifting line-ups naturally resulted in shifting sounds, and by the time the band signed with the legendary Music For Nations label for their fifth album ‘Judgement’ in 1999, they’d settled on a rather tough but accessible blend of gothy and alternative rock.
Comprising three discs of remastered audio material and a full length live DVD, ‘Fine Days 1999-2004’ presents a detailed look this important period in the Anathema history…

Bowness utilizes a core band comprising Stephen Bennett (Henry Fool), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), Hux Nettermalm (Paatos) and Andrew Booker (Sanguine Hum), and is also joined by guests including Kit Watkins (Happy The Man/Camel), Steve Bingham (no-man) and the legendary Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull).

This band is connected to their compatriots Runaway Totem not only by their name, but also by the fact that drummer Uto Giorgio Golin and bassist Dauno Giuseppe Buttiglione, here joined by vocalist Ana Torres Fraile, keyboardist Marco Zanfei and a large group of guest musicians, used to be the rhythm section for Runaway Totem. Like Runaway Totem, Universal Totem Orchestra have their roots in a rather guitar-heavy version of zeuhl, but UTO mix this with a gamut influences ranging from symphonic rock to world music and beyond.

Nova was formed in early 1975 in Helsinki. Most of the band members had played together earlier in a band called Isojako, which apparently played more pop-orientated music. From the start, Nova's main figure was Antti Ortamo who was the main composer, lyricist and also played keyboards and sang for the band. In february 1976 Nova started recording their debut "Atlantis" in Stockholm, Sweden. The music on this album will probably remind you of Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Wigwam, perhaps even Eloy and Yes at times. It's not the most innovative album to walk the earth, but it's a nice effort full of warm keyboard sounds and atmospheres…
