Arrangements by Josef Triebensee (1787) & Andreas Tarkmann (1991)

Operatic music arranged for wind ensemble were already popular in Mozart's time. In these arrangements the highlights of the opera relived in short 2 to 3 minute pieces. For this recording, Josef Triebensee's arrangements from 1787 were revised by the Linos Ensemble together with composer Andreas Tarkmann. For example, in the Ouverture he has gone back to the original tonality of D-minor, and instead of using Triebensee's not so impressive finale, Tarkmann has made an own arrangement to form a dramatic climax, using the tonal blend of horn and bassoon still inconceivable by Triebensee.
