Undeniably unique and inspirational to generations of DJs and producers, Swiss electronic pioneers Yello return with their 14th studio album, POINT. Musically, POINT takes the classic Yello sound of records like Stella, One Second and Flag and twists it into something ultra-modern. It’s part spy film, part Dali-painting, part strobe lit dance floor, part 4D car chase and part deep space torch song. It’s Yello, absolutely on point.

Dieter Mieir can’t be accused of rushing things. In spite of enormous success as vocalist with the legendary Yello, he released his debut solo album at the age of 69. The 12-track longplayer sounds like a magical sound-alchemy made of Chanson, Electro and Dub. Realised with various musicians and producers including Thomas Wydler (drummer in Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds), Nackt (producer for Mute recording artist Apparat), Ben Lauber (producer, synthesizer), Ephrem Lchinger (piano), Tobias Preisig (violine), Nicolas Rttimann (guitar), and electropunk pioneer & producer T. Raumschmiere aka Marco Haas.

Flag was a watershed album for the group. On one hand, it is a refinement of all the ideas the band had been following through the '80s, on the other, in the wake of their high-profile success with "Oh Yeah," Yello had reached the point where ideas turned into self-parody - the cover art of Deiter Meier and Boris Blank pulled together into a human knot is horrifically appropriate. Nothing is a surprise here, apart from how "The Race" is a Xerox of their own 1981 song "Bostich." Tracks like "Of Course I'm Lying" are empty exercises in suave, like late-period Roxy Music without the pedigree. Billy Mackenzie returns to provide backup vocals on the more romantic tunes…
