She combines traditional and ethnic instruments to allow subtle tribal overtones into her soundscapes. Her expert arrangements create lush and melodic atmospheres. Seasons of the Soul is perfect music for contemplating the self and for communing with God. Lynne's sensitivities for the subtleties of humanism are vivid and real. The sensuality of her sound design is smooth and warm. This environmental ambience is best when shared with a lover. This CD will appeal to all fans of good music. Comparisons to Hans Christian, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, and David Darling are valid. This is one of Lynne's better efforts. It is essential for all new age collectors.

Quiet Heart is an intimate snapshot of Lisa Lynne Franco's solo acoustic harp stylings. This is the way that her harps (Celtic, Paraguayan, and wire string) sound in personal settings when she plays for family and/or friends. This is a warm and lush CD; the music just washes over listeners and covers them with blankets of love and serenity. It is easy to get lost in the atmospheres. Franco's harp sings - it is like listening to a grand chorale by one of the classical masters. Franco's style and technique and the timbre of the harp give the soundscape a sense of multiple layering. There is only one layer of sound - it is Franco on her acoustic harp. This is a must-have for all new age fans.

Celtic harpist Lisa Lynne Franco began studying music as a child; initially attracted to folk sounds, she took up the guitar and mandolin, later playing bass in a local rock band. While enrolled at Hollywood's Musician's Institute of Technology, she concurrently enjoyed a thriving career as a session player; upon discovering the harp in 1985, Franco also formed a progressive rock outfit dubbed Bigger Than Blue. After landing a deal with the German label Innovative Communication, however, student visa problems forced the band to dissolve, so Franco instead played all the instruments on 1991's debut LP Bigger Than Blue. Three more efforts for the label - Romantic Dreams, My Way, and Silken Wings - followed while she formed a new group, Celestial Winds, which earned a significant following playing the boardwalk along Venice Beach.

There's an ever-increasing amount of Celtic material available, ranging from tunes straight from the pubs of Dublin to vaguely Irish-sounding new age material. This is one of the more otherworldly combinations, a musical stew combining authentic Celtic instrumentation alongside modern instruments, all banded together in a set of easily accessible instrumentals. There's even a cover of Sting's pop hit "Fields of Gold." But don't be fooled – just because the music is accessible doesn't mean it is pabulum. This is engaging, listenable music that conveys a Celtic feel as much as discs by Clannad, the Bothy Band, or more traditional Irish groups.

Lisa Lynne Franco has recorded some brilliant material under five different guises. Her earliest work was as Lisa Franco. She recorded three CDs for the German Innovative Communications label. Romantic Dreams might be her best CD. The entire album speaks greatness with every note. Peter Seiler produced the CD and co-wrote four of the nine original pieces. He wrote one of the two bonus tracks. He also accompanies Franco's harp with his keyboards. This CD represents his best work, too. His gentle atmospheres surround her aggressive style like billowing clouds and fluffy pillows. The beauty of the atmospheres is breathtaking. There are no appropriate comparisons for this masterwork. It stands alone - a true sign of greatness.

Lisa Franco, aka Lisa Lynne Franco and Lisa Lynne, recorded four albums for Innovative Communications, a progressive German label. Silken Wings is the fourth and strongest of those discs. This set features Franco's gentle - yet aggressive - harp with very subtle accompanying instruments and atmospheric recording techniques. Those extras, especially the atmospheric enhancements, courtesy of producer and keyboardist Peter Seiler, frame the acoustic timbres of the harp and enhance its exotic - and erotic - textures. This sensuous music is dreamy and seductive. This CD, like all of her discs, is essential. And, like all of the discs on the IC label, it is hard to find. The atmospheric enhancements make this CD just a little extra special and worth the effort to find.
