Decca Records is proud to announce the new album from Sir Karl Jenkins, one of the world’s most-performed living composers. The album presents One World, commissioned by the World Choir for Peace and the World Orchestra for Peace. The choir is joined in this new recording by the World Orchestra for Peace, co-founded by Sir Georg Solti and Charles Kaye in 1995 to reaffirm “the unique strength of music as an ambassador for peace”. These illustrious ensembles are joined for two movements by the Stay At Home Choir, a global choral community formed in the UK during the first Covid-19 lockdown to bring singers together, digitally, during a time of isolation.

The new recording is entirely dedicated to British music and offers a great selection of works by famous but also lesser-known composers: recorded are works by Edward Elgar (1857-1934), Benjamin Britten (1913-1976), Peter Warlock (1894-1930) and Karl Jenkins (b. 1944). The album opens with the earliest masterpiece, the famous Serenade in E minor for string orchestra by Edward Elgar, one of the greatest British composers and leading European composers of his generation. Among the hallmarks of Elgar's compositions are ingratiating character pieces that often share elements with English folk music.

Sir Karl Jenkins continues his 75th birthday year celebrations with a brand-new album, Miserere: Songs of Mercy and Redemption, released on 11th October. The new work, released on Decca Records, is dedicated to all who have suffered or perished during the conflicts in the Middle East over the last 70 years. Jenkins was motivated by the desperate situation for the millions of people displaced and impacted by the cruel effects of war and hoped the healing and uniting powers of music could be used to bring together people from different religions.
