Hope and compassion are not emotions people often associate with rock & roll – joy, rebellion, fury, lust, and exhilaration are usually parts of the formula, but few people think of rock & roll as the equivalent of a warm hug from a good friend in a time of need. Jeff Tweedy wants to change that, or at least that seems to be the recurring theme of 2018's Warm, the Wilco founder's first solo album of original material. Tweedy has never been afraid to dwell on his introspective side, as far back as his days in Uncle Tupelo, and it takes center stage on Warm, which features 11 songs about the search for respite in a world where little seems to go right.

WILCO: 2022 was meant to be the year Wilco celebrated the 20th anniversary of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the album that almost split the band but ended up securing their legend. In November 2018, Jeff Tweedy (singer and guitarist of the legendary band Wilco) released 'WARM' to much critical acclaim. 'WARMER' was recorded during the same studio sessions, and this release features both albums. Tweedy himself comments: 'At some point I separated the songs from the 'WARM/WARMER' session into two records with individual character, but still tried to keep the overall tone and texture of the combined session consistent. In a lot of ways these two records could have been released as a double LP'. Jeff Tweedy’s recent solo album gets a deluxe edition with Love Is the King/Live Is the King, which features a bonus disc housing live versions of all 11 original songs from Love Is the King. The bonus disc also includes a cover of Neil Young’s “The Old Country Waltz,” which Tweedy shared alongside the deluxe edition announcement.

It was inside Jeff Tweedy’s second home, The Loft in Chicago, that Love Is The King was recorded in April of 2020. Surrounded by an assemblage of treasured instruments and loved ones in a world that felt more and more alien by the day.

Tweedy—the family band of Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and his sons, Spencer and Sam—have completed their first film score. The trio composed the soundtrack for Showbiz Kids, a new documentary from Alex Winter (best known as Bill from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures). The forthcoming movie follows actors who got their start in Hollywood when they were children.
