The album has been unavailable for a while and is being re-promoted due to demand.

Few beat groups of the mid-sixties could match the impact of Liverpool's The Searchers, whose first four singles on the Pye label included three number ones - Sweets For My Sweet, Needles And Pins and Don't Throw Your Love Away - and Sugar And Spice, a number two hit which is fondly remembered today. The band's upbeat, folk-influenced guitar pop was hugely successful and their choice of songs inspired, often sourced from then-obscure imported American singles. After vocalist Tony Jackson was replaced by Mike Pender the hits continued, with When You Walk In The Room easily identifiable as a direct influence on The Byrds and others that followed. This new collection gathers 60 Searchers tracks across three CDs - all twelve top 40 hit singles are included, along with key album tracks and B-sides. The Ultimate Collection is a must for current and future Searchers fans.

For most general rock fans, the Pete Best story ends on August 16, 1962. That's when Beatles manager Brian Epstein told the unfortunate drummer that he was being replaced by Ringo Starr, just weeks before the group would record their first single. Most fans don't know that Best did continue to perform and record for a few years, usually as the leader of his own group, and usually for cheapo companies eager to exploit his notoriety as an ex-Beatle. Certainly these discs are of little interest to anyone besides Beatle/British Invasion obsessives. But if you're on that path already, you might find them – and indeed the whole Pete Best solo chapter – more interesting than you would expect.

A sometimes sensational compilation of Australian artists covering the Beatles. Beatlemania was most intense downunder and for the band's mid-sixties tour 350000 people greeted them at the Adelaide airport; (a third of the city's entire population). This collection starts with the biggest band to score a place, with a relatively small song - the Bee Gees doing a squeaky clean take on From Me To You. Gold chains and hairy chests are nowhere to be seen yet. Then the Seekers ease us into the album with a torch-song version of Yesterday which shows off Judith Durham's great voice. Followed by a role-call of groovy Oz talent including Masters Apprentices giving a bluesy, garage version of I Feel Fine and the Hoodoo Gurus doing a more recent run through of A Hard Day's Night. Their rendition stays true with a note-perfect guitar solo!

Capitol Records initially planned to release a live album from the Beatles in 1964, recording the band's August 23 concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Nobody at the label found the results satisfactory so they attempted it again almost exactly a year later, taping the August 29 and 30, 1965 shows at the Hollywood Bowl but, once again, it proved hard to hear the Fab Four from underneath the roar of the crowd, so those tapes were also shelved. They remained in the vaults until 1977, when Capitol president Bhaskar Menon asked George Martin to assemble a listenable live album from the two sets of Hollywood Bowl tapes, all with the idea of combating the rise of bootlegs and quasi-legit Beatles live albums…

2009 compilation from the Liverpool-based Mersey Beat group who were originally the only real competition for the Beatles during their early days. The first popularity poll for Liverpool groups appeared in Mersey Beat in 1961. The Beatles were top, but as that magazine's contributor, Liverpool's top club DJ, Bob Wooler, pointed out, I excluded The Swinging Blue Jeans (then known as The Bluegenes) as they were beyond comparison and in a class of their own. The Swinging Blue Jeans were the epitome of the Mersey Beat sound and all that great group's best recordings can be found here. This album includes all of their greatest hits and much more besides. Hits include 'The Hippy Hippy Shake', 'Good Golly Miss Molly', 'You're No Good' and 'Don't Make Me Over' as well as 'Shakin' All Over', 'Tutti Fruiti', 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy' and 'Save the Last Dance For Me'.
