What is Santo Subito? Here is what the author of the lyrics wrote about it: The literary and musical form devised for this project, which we have named C A N T O B I O G R A P H Y, portrays the life and work of John Paul II with the language of song.
And the language of song is full of emotions, unexpected associations and undisguised feelings. This is not a story of a historian, full of dates and analyses, these are rather impressions on consecutive stages of life of Karol Wojtyła - John Paul II, from his childhood until the moment he completed fulfilment of his unsparing service.
Young people – solo performers of the cantobiography, enriched by the symphony orchestra and the choir, are the modern witnesses of the history of our Pope, that is they live in the same places, they breathe the same tradition, they walk on the same stones, they pray in the same prie-dieux in front of the same paintings. But they look at the history of that life with their own eyes and from the middle of this present day they try to answer the question why John Paul II deserves to be canonized.
They tell about the road of the young Karol to priesthood, of his constant and deep piety, about the people who had their influence on that road. They portray how Karol Wojtyła saw his world through the “windows of Cracow”, from the windows in the basement in Tyniecka Street, where he lived with his Father after moving from Wadowice, to the windows in Franciszkańska Street, which became His windows for ever. Next, they lead us through the „door of Rome”, as far as crossing by John Paul II of the saint doors of the four Roman basilicas, when He was introducing the world to the third Millennium. We track with them papal pilgrimages, so important for the world, as the first pilgrimage to his Homeland, when in 1979 in Warsaw He said the famous phrase “Let your Spirit descend …”. Then they depict the masterwork of John Paul II – the Pope of peace and reconciliation.
„Santo Subito” tell the story of our Pope with love, because that’s how ordinary people perceived Him. This universal affection gives at the same time a reply to the question: - Why „Santo Subito”? The answer is: - Because His life was a miracle, as He was a miracle too!
The final song „Santo” stems from the desire to experience the sanctity of John Paul II being declared a saint. And it makes for the possibility to live such experience.

Najnowsza płyta Piotra Rubika "Santo Subito - Cantobiografia Jana Pawła II". Jej premiera przewidziana jest na 2 października. Libretto do dwupłytowego wydawnictwa napisał Jacek Cygan.

W nagraniach biorą udział znani już ze współpracujący z Rubikiem soliści: Zosia Nowakowska, Anna Józefina Lubieniecka, Marta Moszczyńska, Michał Gasz, Grzegorz Wilk i Michał Bogdanowicz. W roli narratora wystąpi Kuba Wieczorek. Na płycie Piotra Rubika usłyszymy także Wrocławski Chór Akademicki pod kierunkiem Alana Urbanka i muzyków Polskiej Orkiestry Radiowej.

Autorem okładki płyty jest wybitny artysta plastyk Andrzej Pągowski.
