For decades, rumors have circulated among Creedence Clearwater Revival’s fans about a long-lost recording of their legendary 1970 show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Today, the long-fabled performance is available in its entirety on multiple formats as Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall. Coinciding with the album release, the new documentary concert film, Travelin’ Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall, is available now streaming on Netflix.
The stunning new concert album and film find CCR at the apex of their career, playing the most prestigious venue in London. Placing listeners front and center at the show, the album features John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook performing the classic hits "Fortunate Son," "Proud Mary," "Born on the Bayou," "Bad Moon Rising," and more.

For this slightly unusual LP Shorty Rogers and Andre Previn split the arranging chores in a somewhat competitive fashion. Rogers arranges a standard and then that is followed by a Previn original based on the same chord structure. This procedure is followed until the halfway point of the date when they reverse roles. As performed by a nonet featuring Rogers' trumpet, Previn's piano, altoist Bud Shank, Bob Cooper on tenor, baritonist Jimmy Giuffre, trombonist Milt Bernhart and a rhythm section, the result is a dead heat with some fine swinging solos on tunes (and variations) of such songs as "It's DeLovely," "You Stepped Out Of A Dream" and "You Do Something To Me."

To stand out in a field where the obvious signifiers are the most common, and therefore the most clichéd, elements, one has to know when to try something different. Amorphis had already shown itself to be a more than competent end-of-the-century Scandinavian black metal outfit, but there were plenty of others equally able to say the same. The inspired turning point had two points of origin - recruiting another lead vocalist, Pasi Koskinen, to sing with Tomi Koivusaari, and deciding to record an album infused with earlier Finnish folk influences, both musically and lyrically. The choice of lyrical inspiration, Finland's national epic The Kalevala, isn't necessarily surprising given how often metal of all kinds has favored tales of dungeons and grue…

SEDUCTIVE TUNES FROM ITALIAN CINEMA CLASSICS. This limited edition collection compiles work from some of the great Italian composers of the 60s and 70s. The moody tracks found their way into the weirdest spots and avant films mostly of the erotic sort but what Italian film of the period didn't have some sort of baby making scene amirite? Nicolai, Morricone, Alessandroni, Bacalov, and many others round out this collection that is limited to 700 copies worldwide.

This album may be laidback, but it's hardly mellow at all - thanks to the presence of Sonny Clark on piano! The session's one of those great 50s pairings of Clark's piano and the clarinet of Buddy DeFranco - proof not only that Buddy could sound pretty darn soulful when he wanted, but also that he was always willing to grow and bring in some new ideas to his music.
And the pairing with Clark is one of the best ideas that Buddy ever had - a mode that makes his instrument sound even more soulful than ever, almost like a soprano sax at times. Rhythm is rounded out by bass from Gene Wright and drums from Bobby White - who give the album a nicely easygoing groove - on tunes that include "Sonny's Idea", "The Bright One", "Minor Incident", and "I'll Remember April".

Whilst his albums have always garnered excellent reviews and well-deserved commercial success, Tyler Bryant has rarely been fully satisfied due to some misunderstandings with his former record label. Determined to afford himself greater artistic freedom, the artist decided to launch his own label. This decision, according to him, will not only allow him to record the songs he really wants to make but also to respect an increasingly loyal audience that he considers intelligent, open-minded and willing to follow him and his artistic endeavours. Not only is Shake the Roots a real rock’n’roll record with a more raw and authentic sound, but a collection of catchy and unifying songs that don’t need to be overly produced to shine. This record is all about the art of inspired song writing.

Wild One would seem to be an apt description of the young Kyle's life growing up, and it is the title she's decided to give to her long overdue new album. As she explains, "If you're lucky in your recording career you get to make your favorite album. This is mine. My new album 'Wild One' encompasses a wide range of emotions; vulnerable at times and exploding with passion, I go from whispering honest feelings in your ear to screaming my guts out. This album speaks to my soul, provokes my mind, grooves my body and rocks like crazy!" As Jaime explains, "There are many incredible musicians on the album. It was a giant snowball effect that pushed the release back because more and more amazing musicians wanted to be a part of the album, giving it a timeless classic sound with a modern twist.

"Stay in Love" is the 4th studio album by American singer Minnie Riperton, released under Epic Records. The album features the hits "Young Willing and Able" and the Stevie Wonder collaboration "Stick Together". Unlike her previous works, the soft soul elements here tend to fade, replaced by a more upbeat disco sound which was the musical trend at the time. "Stick Together" peaked at #23 on Billboard's Hot Dance Play, an alternate version known as "Stick Together (Part One)" reached #57 on the U.S. Hot Black Singles chart. Stay in Love was Riperton's first disco effort and the only of her releases predominantly in the genre. It was also her last album for Epic Records; she subsequently signed to Capitol Records (which she recorded two albums during her lifetime).

Rick Nelson was one of the very biggest of the '50s teen idols, so it took awhile for him to attain the same level of critical respectability as other early rock greats. Yet now the consensus is that he made some of the finest pop/rock recordings of his era. Sure, he had more promotional push than any other rock musician of the '50s; no, he wasn't the greatest singer; and yes, Elvis, Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins, and others rocked harder. But Nelson was extraordinarily consistent during the first five years of his recording career, crafting pleasant pop-rockabilly hybrids with ace session players and projecting an archetype of the sensitive, reticent young adult with his accomplished vocals.

The Temptations celebrate a milestone on Temptations 60 with a lineup and approach that differentiate the album from 2018's All the Time. Former Az Yet lead vocalist Tony Grant, a tenor, joins Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, and Willie Greene, Jr., and instead of covers, the quintet offer up mostly new material. It's an inspired return that sensibly balances the past with the present. A couple songs strongly evoke specific classics without distinguishing themselves, a flirtatious Caribbean number doesn't hold up, and the opener curiously puts the Tempts in a supporting role (for positive rapper K. Sparks). Even so, hearing these five voices together is a treat at all times. The most satisfying results occur when they're assisted by old friend Smokey Robinson (who writes and fronts the soft and warm "Is It Gonna Be Yes or No") and tailored with sure-fire crowd pleasers, such as the one co-written by Williams, Narada Michael Walden, and Preston Glass ("When We Were Kings").

A bit tighter and more conventional soul than earlier work by Starpoint, but still pretty darn great too - and great proof that the group were more on top of their bag than other funky combos of the type. Renee Diggs is strongly out front on vocals throughout - lending her sweet sound to the flurry of electro keys and beats that make up most of the instrumentation here. The instrumentation's almost got some echoes of the Minneapolis funky soul scene at the times, but echoes the group's older sound at other points - and although a few tracks are quite hook heavy, they're never too poppish or cloying. Titles include "Behind Your Back", "Don't Be So Serious", "Put Your Love On Me", "It's So Delicious", "Let Go", and "I Got The Love".

The third album from the essential Krautrock power trio Guru Guru's early forays is as essential to the avant-rock collector as Faust's Faust Tapes, Can's Tago Mago, and the early experiments of Kraftwerk and Neu! Dating from 1972, it's an unprecedented display of drone-rock on the heavier, psychedelic side of the '70s German underground. Guru Guru's lineup changed periodically, and throughout the '70s, the project took contributions from Conny Plank and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, among others, and were tightly connected with the Kraftwerk off-shoot Harmonium. This album is undoubtedly one of their greater works, alongside UFO and Hinten recorded by the essential trio of Ax Genrich on guitar, Uli Trepte on bass, and leader Mani Neumeier on drums and keyboards.

A great lost soul record on Prelude - with much more of a mellow feel than the label's usual disco groove! Silk are an excellent harmony trio, and they're produced with a sweet mellow vibe that gives the record a sophisticated soul sound. The whole thing was put together by Gene Barge in Chicago - and the trio includes vocalist Maurice Jackson, who is better known for his work with The Independents - and who also recorded some killer 45s back in the early 70s. Whatever the case, the record's a great one - and it's filled with nice cuts like "Gone Away", "Get Ready For That Day", "I'll Be Waiting", "I Never Had Love", and "Simply Beautiful".

Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, (Sami language Áillohaš, also kown as "Ailu") (March 23 1943 - November 26 2001) was a Saami writer, musician and artist of Finnish citizenship born in Enontekiö in the Finnish part of Lapland. Significant portions of his life he lived in Käsivarsi, close to the border to Sweden, and also in Skibotn in Norway. It is sometimes said that Valkeapää is the Sami person who is most well known internationally. Valkeapää was born in a family of the traditional trade of herding reindeer, but was trained as a school teacher. The traditional sami singing yoik was important in his art, in music as well as in painting and in writing. The yoik also was the first genre he got recognised in. During the 1960s, young Sami searched for their cultural roots and Valkeapää was one of the most prominent persons as a yoiker…
