GRAMMY winner John McEuen's new album, 'The Newsman', is a first for the acoustic music legend who helped to define the trajectory for bluegrass and acoustic-rooted music in the mid 1970s as a member of The Nitty Gritty Dirty Band. The album's 11 tracks are all spoken word renditions of poems from the 19th and 20th century that McEuen has been collecting over the course of his 50 year career. Each story is told in McEuen's engaging baritone, adorned by his unique instrumental compositions informed by his many years of scoring films.

Equal Spirits brings together a genre-defying mix of South African spiritual jazz, ambient improvised introspection, bursts of old-school hip-hop and electronica, soaring melodies, synths, samples and gospel-infused grooves, woven together with sung and spoken languages from Zulu, Sotho, Yoruba and Xhosa to Arabic and English.

Pianist Sophia Weidemann and actress Tinka Kleffner present a musical-literary encounter with the exceptional composer Fanny Hensel in their new GENUIN album, "Das Jahr" (The Year). The album includes a remarkable piano cycle along with letters and diary entries to and by Hensel. Through their interpretation, these two highly acclaimed artists offer a high-level, intimate glimpse into the life and work of one of the most significant 19th-century female composers and enlightened thinkers, Fanny Hensel. Hensel's piano cycle covers a whole year, and the chosen and thoughtfully read excerpts mirror the emotionally rich and skillfully constructed music in the most delightful way!

The Great Bailout is an expansive meditation that acts as a non-linear word map about colonialism, slavery, and commerce in Great Britain. Featuring guest contributions from Lonnie Holley, Angel Bat Dawid and Sistas of the Nitty Gritty, Vijay Iyer, Mary Lattimore, and more, it's Moor Mother's most uncompromising vision to date.

But Barbara Strozzi wants more: she regularly publishes her compositions – more than any woman before her. The new BR-KLASSIK audio biography tells her story. Until the 20th century, female composers had a hard time in a male-dominated art. And in historiography for even longer: it was not until 1978 that a female American musicologist published the first specialist article on Barbara Strozzi.

Heinz Marecek tells the story of the shipwrecked sailor Enoch Arden. A melodrama of sound based on a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, as gripping as Odysseus or Robinson Crusoe, composed in a phase between the symphonic poems "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks", "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the orchestral works "Don Quixote" and "A Hero's Life".

Composer and Harpist Anne Vanschothorst’s music has been described as innovative, minimal, lyrical, cinematic, and touching yet intense. The same rings true in THAT I DID ALWAYS LOVE, the artist’s musical ode to the great American poet Emily Dickinson. Featuring seven of the poet’s works set to music, Vanschothorst fosters an intimate listening space where two art forms reach a soothing synthesis, amplifying the elegance of Dickinson’s texts with the graceful nature of the harp, a perfect pairing.
