Introduced in The New York Times in 1994 as "one of the thirty artists poised to shape the trajectory of American culture in the following three decades," pianist Jacky Terrasson has lived up to this acclaim by becoming the most widely heard French jazz musician on digital platforms.

We hear juicy, fine and atmospheric jazz from two such unusual imitators, musicians and wonderful instrumentalists. Familiar themes take on completely new colors in their interpretation, especially since the closeness and intimacy of this musical encounter can be heard in their duo.

An accomplished versatile virtuoso baritone saxophone player, Chicago native Dave Schumacher has been a mainstay on the New York jazz scene for more than forty years. His big, bold baritone first came to international attention during the eighties, spending much of those years touring the world with Lionel Hampton’s Orchestra. Schumacher garnered further notice following that with nearly two decades as a member of the orchestra of Harry Connick, Jr. In the 90's he also toured with T.S. Monk’s Monk on Monk band and the Tom Harrell Octet, as well as freelance work with many others in New York and on the road.

Andreas’ dedication to his craft, ability to seamlessly blend traditional melodies with jazz finesse, and unwavering connection with his audience have cemented his status as a trailblazer and maestro of connection. His music, resonating across the globe, is a force to be reckoned with, a fusion of tradition and rebellion that redefines the boundaries of jazz.

Three of a Kind is the first eponymous album of a three-headed group comprised of some of the best French Jazz musicians living in New York City, who surprisingly had never really played together before: guitarist Michael Valeanu, saxophonist Jon Boutellier and bassist Clovis Nicolas.

Born as Carlos Althier de Souza Lemos Escobar, Guinga grew up in Rio de Janeiro absorbing Brazilian contemporary and folkloric music as well as classical, rock, pop and Jazz. Having shaped a creative identity that embraces the signature energy of Brazil’s diverse artistic enterprise, Guinga’s legacy lives within the spirit of crafting a voice that’s essentially Brazilian while cultivating a vivacious universal appeal. A spirit lovingly captured by trombonist Natalie Cressman and guitarist Ian Faquini within their new GroundUP album GUINGA, releasing on April 12, 2024.

“How often do we step back and realize what a gift it is to have this music in our life?” asks acclaimed trumpeter, composer and Greenleaf Music founder Dave Douglas. On Gifts, his newest Greenleaf project, Douglas harnesses that feeling of simple wonder with a new book of pieces and four intriguing takes on Strayhorn songs, premiering a new quartet with poll-sweeping tenor saxophonist James Brandon Lewis and two members of the Oscar-nominated post-rock trio Son Lux: guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and drummer Ian Chang. The sound is harmonically spacious, with no bass, but a full, sonically adventurous guitar palette from Bhatia that frames the group’s trumpet-tenor melodic concept in fresh and unexpected ways.

Born to parents of Senegalese, Gambian, and Malian descent, and hailing from the outskirts of Paris, the multitalented Gadiaga has been making waves in the UK music industry since she moved to London aged 18.

Steve was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in 1960 and completed a B Mus degree in performance at the University of Natal in 1981, majoring in saxophone and flute. As of October 1st 2023 Steve has just finished producing his 10th solo project called "Enhlizweni - song stories from my heartland". This project is the second release from newly formed label AricArise, a joint collaboration between Ropeadope and City Of Gold Arts.

In 2023, the newly formed band Hamrå Orchestra stepped into the Tonkontroll studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, and recorded nine newly composed compositions with sound engineer Åke Linton. After mastering by Hans Ohlsson at Svenska Grammophonstudion, the music is now released by Prophone Records/Naxos.

The new project of saxophonist Victoire du Jazz in 2020, traveling partner of Anne Pacéo, is rooted in her previous experiences with multiple pianists (Les Âmes Perdues (2016), Les Mauvais Tempéraments (2019)), with a new dynamic found in keyboards, synthesizers, drums and electronic sounds. It is a new stage in Christophe Panzani's quest for the evocative power of music, the search for the right, pure emotion, beyond words, without filter. Stop wanting to understand, and just feel music that transfixes you.

Israeli NYC-based drummer and composer Eden Har-Gil releases a mesmerizing and vivid musical representation of Prospect Park’s vibrant Nethermead. Released on March 8th under the label XJAZZ! Music, “Nethermead” features an exceptional lineup of collaborators, including saxophonists Caroline Davis and Lo Wood, along with bassist Dezron Douglas.

Drummer-composer Willy Rodriguez proudly announces the release of his debut album. Joining the Puerto Rico-born, New York based musician on his expansive debut is trumpeter Jason Palmer, saxophonist Hery Paz, pianist Leo Genovese, bassists John Hébert and Kenneth Jimenez, and special guest artist, saxophonist Dave Liebman. Avant garde philosophies provide precarious but often brilliant edges to how open or free improvisation function in Jazz.

Jerry Lu crowns his grandiose, often hymnally celebrated live performances of recent years with the release of his debut album. "In Two Minds" presents eleven studio productions by the young pianist, recorded with his confident trio - while saxophonist Denis Gäbel joins him as a special feature guest on one of Jerry Lu's five original compositions.
