Natty Dread is the seventh album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, released in 1974. Previously Marley had recorded with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer as the Wailers, and this was his first record without them.

Jim Dawson (born September 10, 1944) is an American author and self-proclaimed "fartologist", who has specialized in pop culture of early rock and roll and the history of flatulence, having written three books on the latter subject.

A really hip record from flutist Jeremey Steig – and a set that's nice and lean, with a very cool groove! The lineup just features Eddie Gomez on bass, Ray Mantilla on congas, and Marty Morrell on drums – and Gomez is fantastic, with a rich sound that's very different than his work with Bill Evans – funky at times, and sounding great next to the percussion! Titles include "Djinn Djinn", "Space Maiden", "Monium", and "Dream Passage".

Steely Dan's gold-selling third studio album Pretzel Logic, charted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and restored the group's radio presence with the single "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," which became the biggest pop hit of their career and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 1974 album was produced by Gary Katz and was written primarily by Walter Becker (bass) and bandleader Donald Fagen (vocals, keyboards). The album marked the beginning of Becker and Fagen's roles as Steely Dan's principal members.

"Waterloo" is the first single from the Swedish pop group ABBA's second album of the same name, and their first under the Atlantic label in the US. This was also the first single to be credited to the group performing under the name ABBA. The title and lyrics reference the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, and use it as a metaphor for a romantic relationship. The Swedish version of the single was backed with the Swedish version of "Honey, Honey", while the English version featured "Watch Out" on the B-side.

The Incredible Bongo Band, also known as Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band, was a project started in 1972 by Michael Viner, a record artist manager and executive at MGM Records, producer, MGM Records executive and Curb Records founder Mike Curb and arranger Perry Botkin, Jr. Viner was called on to supplement the soundtrack to the B-film The Thing With Two Heads.[3] The band's output consisted of upbeat, funky, instrumental music. Many tracks were covers of popular songs of the day characterized by the prominence of bongo drums, conga drums, rock drums and brass.

in 1974, the Eagles released their third studio album, an LP that earned them their first - but certainly not their last - hit single.
Produced by Glynn Johns ("You Never Cry Like a Lover" and "Best of My Love") and Bill Szymczyk (everything else) during sessions at Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles and Olympic Studios in London, ON THE BORDER was the first Eagles album with guitarist Don Felder in the lineup, but it could have been a very different album if the guys in the band hadn't tired of Johns' efforts to play country in their rock. Johns' argument was, "The Who is a rock and roll band, and you're not," and you can imagine how well that went over. After working with Johns in London for six weeks, the Eagles returned to L.A., where they teamed up with Szymczyk, and it was during those sessions that Felder joined the band. Admittedly, he joined rather late, so he can only be heard on two tracks - "Good Day in Hell" and "Already Gone" - but it was enough to make a name for himself and be officially accepted into the band.

The Choice Four were a very classy all male quartet that I imagine RCA had high hopes for.

Oak Ridge Boys is the name of an American vocal quartet that began with gospel music in the 1940s and was extremely successful with country and pop music in the 1970s and 1980s.

"What a Man My Man Is" is the name of a No. 1 U.S. country music hit by Lynn Anderson, from 1974. This was Anderson's last No. 1 country hit, staying at the top for one week and spending a total of nine weeks on the chart. It was also her last pop entry on the Hot 100, reaching number 93. For the next few years, Anderson would place hits in the Country top 15 and 20, but wouldn't reach the top 10 again until 1979 with "Isn't it Always Love". The song has been re-recorded numerous times by Anderson, including on her Grammy-nominated 2004 album, The Bluegrass Sessions.
