The Eichmann Show (2015)

To mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the BBC has commissioned a 90-minute dramatization of the global broadcast of the trial of Adolf Eichmann, one of the chief Nazi architects of the Holocaust.

“The Eichmann Show” is written by Simon Block (The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall) and produced by Laurence Bowen (Suburban Shootout) and Ken Marshall (Song For Marion) for Feelgood Fiction, the BBC and co-produced by Sheetal Talwar (Vistaar).

With the help of Nyman Libson Paul, we have structured and closed the finance through our Goldfinch brand.

With our heritage here at Nyman Libson Paul this project was something we had to be involved with.

Sheetal Talwar, Managing Director of the Vistaar Film Fund, which is co-producing The Eichmann Show, believes, ‘there are moving stories that you are proud to put your name to and The Eichmann Show is one of those stories, we just had to help make this happen’.

The film stars Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit, Fargo), Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace, Lantana), Rebecca Front (The Thick of It), Andy Nyman (Peaky Blinders, Death At A Funeral) and Nicholas Woodeson (The Honourable Woman, Skyfall) and is currently in production.

Described as the “trial of the century”, the 1961 trial of Eichmann in Israel was shown on TV in 37 countries over four months and was the first time the horror of the death camps had been heard live from the mouths of its victims. 80% of the German population watched at least an hour a week, it went out daily across all three US networks, and people fainted when they saw it. The trial became the world’s first ever global TV event, and this film tells the behind-the-scenes story of the production team that masterminded it.
