Prior to playing the polarizing track "I Was Made For Loving You" live, Paul Stanley of KISS likes to remark that it's in the live setting, blasted at full volume, that the song really shines, as opposed to it's album counterpart. One could very easily apply the same sentiment to Metallica's "St. Anger" recordings. When the group released the album on June 5, 2003, it was met not with kind-hearted enthusiasm, but rather enthusiastic criticism. We all know what I'm talking about here. The tin-sounding snares. The lack of guitar solos. The overall low-quality sounding production. And so forth and so on. But after watching the band tear through the album in it's entirety here on this live DVD (released as a companion piece to the St. Anger album proper), one may have to reevaluate their opinions of St. Anger. And seeing how the band rarely ever plays any of this material live anymore, this may be the only live document of many of these tracks. Give it a sample. It's definitely worth it.
