Who needs it and who cares? This show said nothing for the future and offered nothing for the up and coming generation of filmmakers. Everyone kissing everyone's but and scrambling on stage to be seen to make sure they all keep being relevant. Everyone acknowledging a select few and leaving out thousands who contribute including the massive contribution the audience is to film and theater. Everyone pretending to gush as if this popularity contest actually means something and says anything new or pertinent about art or the human condition. People or stature and influence given the chance to say something to the world and rambling on like narcissists about themselves and each other.

The joke shameless self promotion and the placement of advertisements of new films is reaching new lows on these shows that are about a state of film that is obsolete and in it's death throws.

With one of the biggest audiences in the world there is a real opportunity to make a difference and create something that will rock the world and it can be light spontaneous playful and funny and not about the garbage that was spoken on this show.

Very embarrassing. A huge waste of money recourses time and people's lives. Whoopdidoo another chance to gawk at celebrities in the celebrity zoo. What a missed opportunity. You could see the bored disappointed look on everyones faces throughout the night.
