IT IS NOT part of the "Yakuza Papers BOXSET" also known as "Battles Without Honor and Humanity" pentology (+ bonus disc) which already exists here.
This is the "NEW" Battles Without Honor and Humanity Trilogy!



Part 1 of the New Battles Without Honor and Humanity Trilogy was exactly what I'd expect from Kinji Fukasaku; raw and very violent. This volume is star studded (Bunta Sugawara, Hiroki Matsukata, and the Tokyo Drifter Himself Tetsuya Watari just to name a few). The movie is set in Kure (same place as Yakuza Papers part 1), and the initial story once again revolves around the Yamamori clan. Boss Yamamori is the same whining, crying bastard you hate from the original series. The music is also the same, and it is set during the same time period, but the similarities stop there. It seems to me that Fukasaku just took a formula that worked (setting, actors, music,) and set it to a new story.

In this new series Bunta plays Mikio Miyoshi of the Yamamori family. He is a similar type of character to the one he played in the first set of movies. These new ones are different though. There is a lot more (non - choreographed) gun violence. This movie also boasts a great double eye-gouge scene. In this movie there is more internal conflict and dissension in the ranks. I won't tell you too much more about the story in hopes you all get to see it someday, but let me tell you this: the end will leave you screaming "More! More!"

The next stage of this continuing drama is the Kanmon Channel where the Owada and the Kyoei groups are battling for territorial rights and drug smuggling. The Owada sends their man, Tetsu, and his friend Shuji to kill the Kyoei boss. With the promise of fame and riches, Shuji takes the fall and goes to jail for 7 years. But when he's released, he discovers that he and Tetsu have been all but forgotten by the Owada. Feeling betrayed, Shuji takes natters into his own hands and becomes an unsuspecting pawn in an internal conflict and an assassination attempt on the Owada boss. And now angered, Shuji seeks revenge…

This part of the series by the successful “Fukasaku and Bunta” collaboration revolves around the men of a lesser organization that are constantly bullied by the upper organization and “bleed in vain” in gang wars. A minor dispute between the Sakamoto family based in Osaka (the largest organization in Japan) and the Kawahara family of Amagasaki (subsidiary of the Genryu Group of Kyushu) turns into a conflict that leads to several deaths in both families. The incident happens just when the Genryu group has become wary of the Sakamoto family’s attempt to expand into Kyushu. Nozaki, the young manager of the Iwaki group, under the Genryu group, has his only sister, Asami, who is married to Nakamichi, the member of the Yonemoto family under the Sakamoto gamily, which puts him in a tight spot. But when the Yonemoto group sends an assassin to stab the family chief Iwaki to death, Nozaki takes his subordinates including Kangawa with him and confronts Osaka. Despite the brutal scar he receives on his face, Nozaki goes after the life of the chief of the gigantic organization relentlessly…
