Un giornalista che sta coprendo un grosso caso di omicidio, incontra un filmaker che sta facendo ricerche sul processo. Saranno proprio le vicende personali di quest'ultimo, i rapporti con la ex-moglie e con la figlia, ad essere al centro della storia. Il film è liberamente ispirato al libro "Angel Face: The true Story of Student Killer Amanda Knox", che racconta la vicenda della studentessa americana condannata, assolta e di nuovo sotto processo per l'omicidio di Meredith Kercher, avvenuto nel 2007 a Perugia. Sembra che il film terrà però solo sullo sfondo la vicenda e il protagonista sarà piuttosto ispirato da un riferimento letterario: numerosi incubi e visioni notturne colpiranno infatti il filmaker, le stesse che colpivano Dante quando sognava la perduta Beatrice.
