Em férias de verão com a família em Búzios, Filipa, uma adolescente de 14 anos, faz o rito de passagem para a idade adulta em meio às descobertas do amor com a turma de amigos. Um rito que se prova doloroso quando ela descobre que o pai, um famoso escritor, está traindo a mãe com uma estrangeira que mora na praia. A descoberta desse segredo, porém, será apenas a primeira de uma série de outras, encantadoras ou dolorosas, sobre sua família e si mesma.

Filipa, 14 ans, passe l'été avec sa famille à Buzios, à côté de Rio de Janeiro (Brésil). Ces vacances seront le théâtre d'un passage douloureux à l'âge adulte et de sa première initiation à l'amour. Filipa découvre avec peine l'infidélité de son père, un romancier célèbre qui trompe sa mère avec une belle Américaine vivant près du petit village côtier. Mais cet événement n'est que le premier d'une longue série de réalisations à la fois douloureuses et enchanteresses que Filipa va être amenée à faire sur sa famille et sur elle-même…

It is the 80's, and fourteen year-old Filipa is spending her vacation at Búzios with her father, Mathias, her alcoholic mother, Clarice, and her two younger siblings in their beach house. When Filipa feels that the relationship of her parents is deteriorating, she snoops in her father's office. There she finds pictures of Mathias with his American lover Ângela hidden in a drawer of his desk. When Mathias and Clarice announce to their children that they are not going to live together for a period, the confused Filipa believes that Ângela is the responsible for the separation of her parents and discovers that the marriage of Mathias and Clarice is built on a bed of lies.
