You can lock any PC and set user access to only one or more programs that you specify. By default, none program is allowed and you have full control over which one or more to enable. For example, you might only want to enable Internet Explorer and one of your specific programs that you use for public access, for a library it could be the specific search engine program.
  • Prevent people from gaining access to your windows environment:
This program is developed to make every effort in preventing a user from gaining unauthorized access to your regular Windows environment. Once the user is in locked mode, he stays in the locked mode. You can even set the program so it goes into the locked mode by itself right away after the reboot.
  • Create shortcuts to suitable web sites:
You can create as many shortcuts as you like to the websites that you consider as helpful and possible to use.
  • Run Internet Explorer in kiosk mode:
For any shortcut you can specify to run the Internet Explorer in kiosk mode. This means it will open up in full screen mode without any toolbar and menu (no address bar, task bar and so on). You can create one or all shortcuts of this type on your choice.
  • Set some shortcuts to start automatically:
You can set some Internet shortcuts as executed by default. This means that every time a user logs in to the workstation with Public Access Desktop, these shortcuts will run automatically.
  • Select the access method for people who use your workstation:
You have full control over anyone who can access your workstation. On your choice, you can let either everyone to use your workstation or only the users with assigned user-name and password. You can also provide some people with the special time-limited access code that they can use only once.
  • Issue the time-limited access codes:
When you keep up an Internet cafe, or simply want your users to get access that is limited in time, a perfect way is to issue a time locking code that is valid for a certain period and will automatically log off user and close all his or her programs. The user will see the remainder of time to work on the workstation and the special progress bar that visualize it.
  • Restrict user control over most of functions in the Internet Explorer:
You can hide or show menus, toolbars, allow or prohibit downloads, hide drives on the disk and so on, the big selection!
  • Select keyboard or mouse keys to block:
You can also completely block off some keys in Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 Server, even such as Ctrl, Alt, Function keys, Backspace and so on. As well, you can disable the mouse wheel, the middle and right buttons.
  • Share one database of user-names across multiple workstations over the network:
If you have multiple workstations in your organization and wish to allow the access based on the user-name and password, you have the option of creating and managing a single database on a network drive, and then sharing it for all workstations.
  • Boot up with Public Access Desktop in locked mode:
Even your workstation is rebooted, the users will still not gain access to the unlocked Windows mode. If you choose this option, Windows will run this program on every restart and go into the locked mode by itself.
  • Make the system log-in automatically:
Running the program under Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003, you can type your log-in name, password and domain credentials into the Public Access Desktop to make system log-in automatically and go into the locked mode.
