Vision Network Analysis is perfectly suited for HV/MV transmission network studies. With load flow based studies, like n–1/n–2 contingency analysis and long term profile analysis, it supports the network planner to make the right choices to guarantee the power system adequacy.


Short-circuit calculations are conform IEC 60909, but also more flexible fault analysis studies can be carried out, based on momentary load flow situations, allowing the user more insight in complex current and voltage behaviour around disturbed objects.

Protection coordination, simulation and selectivity analysis are also based on the fault analysis module.

Results
Results of calculations are directly presented in the network diagram on the basis of user-defined views.
Voltage problems and overloading are rapidly identifiable thanks to colour coding. Detailed information and reports are available for all components.
Graphics facilitate comparison of alternatives. The presentation of all objects can be sorted, based on trajectory, calculated result or alphabetically.

Interfacing GIS
Most companies use GIS software to digitize and manage their utility network data. This data is stored in an underlying GIS database which also maintains the associations between the graphical entities and the attributes.

Vision Network Analysis is equipped with interfacing software to import all relevant network data for analysing purposes. Also geographical data can be exchanged to present the results geographically in systems like Google Earth and Vision Grid Navigator.

Distribution network planning
Vision Network Analysis is frequently used to plan and analyze distribution networks. Besides standard network solutions, some dedicated functions are available.
The reliability module has been specially dedicated for use in MV distribution networks, evaluating the reliability indices of meshed and open-ring operated MV network configurations.
The failure analysis module analyses the recovery of the delivery of electricity after failures in the network, reporting the number of switching actions for protecting, isolating and recovery. Additionaly, cable load and voltage violations will be reported.

Another dedicated function is the voltage dip analysis. This function combines reliability analysis, short-circuit calculations and protection calculations. The result is a statistical overview of the voltage quality.

Industrial network planning
