A Better Solution for Masking and Cutouts
This multi-purposeful plug-in is specifically engineered to handle the most common masking and extraction tasks facing today's photographers and designers - like hair and trees.

A reliable masking tool is essential to every post-processing workflow because it opens the door to a variety of creative and corrective tasks. This capability can help you improve your overall post processing skills by giving you ultimate power over selective adjustments, which means endless control over every aspect of color, detail, positioning and size in your images.

A Faster Way to Creative and Corrective Enhancements
ReMask is designed to help users tackle some of the most common photography and design tasks. After creating your mask/cutout in just a few clicks, you can then quickly replace unwanted backgrounds, isolate specific image elements, create compositions, make selective adjustments and much more. Check out the examples below to see just some of the things that you can do.

Background Replacement
Easily replace backgrounds, skies or any other unwanted elements within your image to change the scene or essence.

Selective Adjustments
Perfect for selective adjustments such as color correction, color change, contrast adjustments and detail enhancement.

Blurred Background (Bokeh) and Subject Enhancements
Blurring allows you to create or divert more attention to a specified element within your image by reducing detail visibility in the non-essential part of the image.

Compositions and Image Blending
Combine multiple images to create a unique scene or photo collage.

A Simple Workflow for Easy Masking
ReMask features a simple workflow that allows you to quickly create masks and extractions in just a few minutes. Using the brush tools, you can quickly paint in the areas that you want to keep, remove and compute and then let ReMask do the rest. The new ReMask also includes a convenient option for saving your mask in progress so that you can return to the masking process and finish at a later time.

The tri-map selections serve three specific purposes to Topaz ReMask process:
  • Green tells Topaz ReMask what to keep in the image for sure. ReMask then compares these areas with the original image and can accurately determine the nature of the "desired" areas based on many image characteristics.
  • Red tells Topaz ReMask what to remove in the image for sure. ReMask then determines the nature of the "undesired" areas using this information.
  • Blue tells Topaz ReMask which parts of the image to process. ReMask extrapolates the data from the green and red parts of the image to figure out the blue parts with a high degree of accuracy.
The resulting mask can then be easily adjusted using the Magic Brush tool or the new Refining toolset which includes options for adjusting your mask and foreground color. The Refining Toolset is divided into two groups: Mask Adjustment and Foreground Color:
  • Mask Hardness - Determines how hard your mask is applied to subject edges in your image.
  • Mask Strength - Determines the brightness of the mask. A higher value renders more detail by making the weaker mask details stronger.
  • Recovery - Revives the color of your foreground - in weaker / more transparent areas.
  • Desaturation - Desaturates the edges of your mask (in weaker / more transparent areas) to help with color contamination and blending.
