Femap - independent of CAD pre-and post-processor from Siemens PLM Software for engineering analysis of the finite element method (FEM) (Finite Element Analysis - FEA). This means that Femap is the link between the user and problem solver - the core of performing calculations in problems of engineering analysis.

System Femap, integrated solver with NX Nastran, is based on Microsoft Windows, part of the Velocity Series product line and is an independent and comprehensive framework for modeling, simulation and evaluation analysis of the characteristics of the product.
Femap 10.1.1 system based solver NX Nastran v7 allows: an analysis of the dynamics and strength of structures, machinery and equipment, to receive the decision of unsteady nonlinear three-dimensional problems, problems in the mechanics of composites and composite structures, construction technology and mechanics, heat transfer analysis to obtain the tasks fluid mechanics and gas-related multi-disciplinary tasks.

Basic modules Femap with NX Nastran allow for the main types of engineering analysis, such as linear static analysis, analysis of the frequencies and modes of free vibration, buckling analysis of structures, analysis of problems of steady and unsteady heat transfer, basic features of nonlinear analysis. Basic nonlinear analysis includes the integration of these nonlinearities, as the geometric (large deformation, displacement, load tracking) and physical (taking into account nonlinear materials - plasticity, creep, viscoelasticity), the account of contact interaction with small movements - the "linear" to the contact record of contact with the condition of continuity . Femap includes three additional modules: Femap Flow Solver - allows the analysis of hydro-and gas dynamics; Femap Advanced Thermal Solver - provides a set of capabilities for the analysis of heat and mass transfer, including the simulation of liquid channels involving convection and analysis of hydro-, gas-dynamic flows; Femap Thermal Solver - solution for thermal analysis and analysis of heat transfer.
