Intaglio v3.4.2 Multilingual Mac OS X | 10.6 MB
Languages: English, French, German, Italian

Intaglio is traditional Mac drawing with the power of Mac OS X. Since the early days of MacDraw, Macintosh has always had powerful and easy to use drawing software. With the introduction of Mac OS X, the graphics capabilities of the Mac expanded considerably. Intaglio carries the legacy of MacDraw into the modern Macintosh world by combining ease of use with the power of Mac OS X graphics. Intaglio retains the feel of MacDraw while harnessing the full capabilities of Quartz and CoreImage. Old timers soon feel right at home and those new to Mac drawing pick it up quickly. Don’t take our word for it.

Intaglio works with yesterday’s software and today’s.
Intaglio will convert old drawings from ClarisDraw and MacDraw II/Pro to Quartz graphics so you can continue to use your old work. You can also convert PICT images saved by any classic QuickDraw application. Of course Intaglio also supports the popular image formats today including PDF, EPS, SVG, and many bitmap file formats such as JPEG, PNG, and TIFF. You can drag graphics out of Intaglio and drop them directly into most modern applications such as Apple’s iWork suite. Because Intaglio also converts modern formats such as PDF and SVG, you can frequently drag another application’s graphics into Intaglio for editing and drag the modified graphics back to the original application.

Intaglio provides powerful graphics tools.
Because Intaglio is designed to work exclusively with Mac OS X, it’s able to take full advantage of the native graphics features that aren’t used by the large multi-platform graphics franchises. Intaglio is fast and lightweight because it builds on the foundation provided by the world’s best OS for graphics. Despite the low price, power users will find the standard tools necessary to create complex graphics plus a few surprises as well.

Intaglio v3.4.2 Multilingual Mac OS X

This illustration was created entirely with Intaglio. CoreImage was used for lighting and text effects.

CoreImage Filters
Intaglio provides an exceptional interface to Apple’s CoreImage technology to easily produce resolution independent special effects that can be time consuming to create by more traditional methods. See our gallery for some examples.

Convert PDF, EPS, SVG, and PICT Files Into Editable Quartz Graphics
Intaglio will convert most files created by other applications into graphics you can edit.

Scale Drawings and Dimension Tool
Draw objects to scale and add dimension lines with arrows and automatic annotation.

Full AppleScript Support
All graphic operations within Intaglio are fully scriptable and recordable. You can easily perform repetitive tasks and integrate Intaglio into complex workflows.

Sophisticated Text Manipulation
Text can be included in any graphics operation provided by Quartz (e.g., outlines and masks). For more complex operations, text can be converted to a graphic path to allow any drawing manipulation.

Professional Quality Pen Tool
Edit bezier curves like a pro. Many other inexpensive illustration tools lack a refined tool for editing curves. For less experienced users, Intaglio also includes a basic curve/polygon tool.

Compound Paths and Path Combination Operations
Create compound paths with separate subpaths and combine paths with Unite, Intersect, Subtract and Exclude operations.

Calligraphy Style Stroke Brushes
Paths and text can be stroked with a variety of flat or round brush shapes.

Automatic and Manual Guides
You can add your own guides and grid or use the automatic “smart” guides to snap to existing objects.

Intaglio offers rich support for Mac OS X technologies.
We’re a small company dedicated to providing the best Mac graphics software possible, so we make it a point to go the extra mile with all the Apple technologies that make sense for our products. In particular, Intaglio highlights the following technologies.

Intaglio v3.4.2 Multilingual Mac OS X

AppleScript & Automator
If a particular function doesn’t do exactly what you need, you may be able create a custom function tailored to your exact requirements. Because Intaglio can record a script of anything you do, you don’t have to be an expert to create a script.

Apple Type Services
Intaglio supports the full capabilities of Apple Type Services to create dramatic text effects and get the most from your fonts. Intaglio is fully compliant with the international text standard unicode, allows direct input of characters from complex Asian alphabets, and supports vertical and right to left writing directions.

ColorSync
Intaglio uses ColorSync to calibrate all colors in graphics and maintains the color profiles embedded in bitmap graphic image files. Every drawing has a default color space and maintains ColorSync profiles for each color space used.

CoreImage
Special effects can be created using any combination of Intaglio graphics and CoreImage filters. Because Intaglio uses vector graphics, the elements used for effects continue to be editable after the effects are created.

Quartz
Intaglio provides access to virtually every function in the Quartz 2D graphics environment. This allows Intaglio to provide traditional drawing features plus many advanced features previously found only in expensive high-end graphics tools. Advanced graphics features include arbitrary 2D transformations like scaling and rotation, clipping, antialiasing, opacity, pattern and gradient fills, EPS and PDF import/export.

QuickDraw
Intaglio bridges the gap between Mac OS 9 and X by providing the ability to convert classic QuickDraw based pictures (i.e., vector PICT graphics) into modern Quartz based graphics. This means you can continue to use files created by traditional Macintosh drawing programs that don’t run natively on Mac OS X.

QuickTime & ImageIO
Intaglio uses QuickTime and ImageIO for importing and exporting bitmap images. This means Intaglio can import and/or export over a dozen image formats and will automatically support new formats as Mac OS X is updated.

Spotlight
Intaglio allows metadata to be added to individual documents and includes a Spotlight importer module to index this metadata as well as all text used in drawings.

QuickLook
Intaglio includes a QuickLook plug-in to allow you to easily preview its drawing files elsewhere on your computer (e.g., select a file in the Finder and tap the space bar on the keyboard).

What's New in Version 3.4.2
  • Fix a problem selecting the export format on Retina displays.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
