This 18th album is the 3rd in the Jomon series. The theme of this album is "Equator." From the music craftsmanship to revelation of Jomon culture, this album has achieved the most perfect level in the series; further more, critics has been giving their highest praises to it amount all Himekami's albums. In 1998, Himekami received Project Prize Winner of the 40th Japan Record Award for this album. (第40回日本レコード大賞企画賞 受賞作)
The main purpose of this album was to create tracks for TBS TV's "Poetry From Gods: The Equator Special" (TBSテレビ『神々の詩』の「赤道特集」aired in August 1998.) Yoshiaki Hoshi believed people who lives below the Equator, they too fear, respect and honor the nature just like the Jomon people. You can hear the sound of Jomon language and local voice combined in this album. An overall impression of the colorful sound was heavily in world music, similar to the French group "Deep Forest" but Himekami never lost his distinctive taste in this album. Translation of the lyrics have never been released in modern Japanese, and vocal Jomon liner notes are not on the CD booklet either. Himekami believe that it's more unique that each listener is interpret his or her own meaning about the music. The jacket featured an stiff illustrations of a flock of dolphins and rainforest, and the photos of waves behind the scenes.

About Himekami:
Himekami was the group formed by Japanese musician Yoshiaki Hoshi who born in 1946, sometimes accompanied by the other musicians, including his son the synthesizer player Yoshiki Hoshi and vocalists Wakako Nakajima, Tomoko Fujii, Junko Shiwa, and Yoriko Sano. Yoshiaki Hoshi first came into prominence in 1971, winning the Victor Electronic organ contest. He started his musical group in 1980 and named it Himekami Sensation, The name is derived from Mount Himekami (means "Goddess") in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. His first record appeared in 1981. In 1984 "Sensation" was dropped from the name and it became simply "Himekami". The music was basically electronic New-Age with sounds of nature and elements of traditional Japanese music, especially dedicated to the northeast Jomon civilization, as well as using music to describe the beauty of Japanese landscape.
Jomon origin - the early Japanese culture combined both northeast and southwest civilization. He has been working hard to elevate Jomon culture into the mainstream as Yayoi civilization, to enable people to pay the same respect and appreciation as himself. In his music, the Jomon he represented has always been regarded as barbaric, primitive, dull side amount Japanese, although it is the birthplace of Japan's most peaceful period in the history - The Hiraizumi era, also the birthplace of magical works like Tono Monogatari, and the famouse writer like Kenji Miyazawa. In his music, Himekami constantly talking about the love for his homeland, and the recognition and memory of the past glory.
Himekami's music is as famous in Japan as Kitaro's - the later has been referred as Godfather of New Age. if Kitaro's music is the masterpieces for pure thought provoking, then Yoshiaki Hoshi's music is inherent the deep quality - the soul of his beloved nation.
