808 State are Graham Massey, Andrew Barker, Darren Partington. They formed back in 1988 in "Eastern Bloc", a DJ record shop in Manchester England run by Martin Price. Gorgeous is 808 State's most vocal-oriented effort, and features a number of fairly anonymous guest singers. On this album they use an assortment of vintage and contemporary equipment, including old analogue synths and now-quaint drum machines, in their sonic fabric. Something that would be recognizable to anyone who was into House music around the late 80's.
