On their second album, 1969's "Suite Feeling", Lighthouse reached the height of their most experimental phase. Particularly on the ten-minute instrumental "Places on Faces Four Blue Carpet Traces," the jazz-rock-classical ensemble stretched out with graceful, passionate improvisations that had seldom been heard in rock arrangements. Other songs such as "Feel So Good," "Places on Faces," and "Could You Be Concerned" were among the most popular staples of their early concerts, which established them as favorites on North America's mushrooming rock festival circuit. The record also featured some of their most classical-influenced pieces, "Presents of Presence" and "Taking a Walk." They also put their individual stamp on covers of the Band's "Chest Fever" and, most adventurously of all, the Beatles' "A Day in the Life."

Spectrum were by far Australia's best known prog band of the 70s. The funny thing is that, just like the Madder Lake, Spectrum weren't all that prog, at least not by hardcore British prog standards of the day…

Saturnia started off in late 1996, founded by multi-instrumentalist Luis Simões. Originally meant to be a free art communal project of several artistic areas such as literature, photography, design, painting and music. Filipe homem and Luis Simões named the project. The name came from the merge between the saturnia butterfly, the planet Saturn and saturnalia. Late 2000 and early 2001 were spent finishing Saturnia's second long duration recording which was well received by music critics and was spoted by Cranium music who released it as "The Glitter Odd". Complete throughout with hiss and vinyl ticks you would think you old turntable is spinning. "The Glitter Odd" is firmly in the psychedelic realm, though lots of fun spacey synths are prominent with Dubs…

So just exactly what are 'The Rockfield Mixes'? In essence they are the second and most dynamic of The Ian Gillan Band albums, namely 'Clear Air Turbulence'. The mixes on this CD were done at Rockfield Studios in Wales but Ian Gillan was unhappy with the results and the album underwent a major remix before it was finally released on 15 April 1977. The Ian Gillan Band's music was a fusion of many styles from Rock to Jazz Funk. The Rockfield Mixes is a unique opportunity to hear classy (and some say superior) performances, from a great 70's Rock super group, in their original form.

Easter Island was originally formed in 1973 by guitarist Mark Miceli. The music places emphasis on excellent mini-moog and Mellotron work as well as guitar, like most prog bands from the mid-'70s seemed to do. Their original and progressive music has its roots in the compositional techniques of King Crimson, Yes, and ELP.

Following the example of some of their fellow-countrymen of the late Seventies (Nightwinds, Infinity…), Netherworld could create a kind of music with a high quality, inspired by the best bands in this style (Genesis and ELP for example), with a particular virtuosity and energy. A little like Twelfth Night, this band combines vocal theatrical intonation, guitar arpeggios, energetic and emphatic keyboards, with multiple breaks and high-velocity solos. All of this is included in a very well composed and structured music.

Tiger Moth Tales is essentially the brain child of Nottinghamshire based musician and writer Pete Jones. Previously known for writing and performing adult contemporary music, at the beginning of 2013 Pete began work on a progressive music project. In an effort to rejuvenate the creative process he went back to the music he had listened to in his childhood with bands such as Genesis, Queen etc. Also he was taking influences from the modern progressive bands Frost, Big Big Train, Haken, and Progressive stalwarts such as Steve Hackett and Roin Stolt…

The band was formed in 1989 by Rick Eddy and Tim Drumheller, an American duo of multi-instrumentalists who handle keyboards, guitars, percussions, flute and trumpet, although they regularly enlist the contribution of talented guest musicians on drums and percussion. Heavily keyboard based (especially the piano), their style is a curious mixture of jazz, rock and classical (symphonic) music with dark, mysterious overtones without being sinister - more like suspenseful. Even when the guys kick into high gear the atmosphere remains tension-filled. As far as comparisons go, names such as Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator or ELP have surfaced but none truly convey the originality of this twosome, whose sublime interplay and strong emphasis on counterpoint cleverly blends all of these bands' styles and more, resulting in a unique contemporary sound of its own.
