Place Vendome - Streets Of Fire (2009) (Japanese KICP 1364)

Second album by the collaboration among Michael Kiske, Dennis Ward and the usual suspects from the Pink Cream 69 family. Before we go into the review of the album, I must thank (once again) Mr. Ward and praise his wit to persuade the stubborn German singer to sing something else instead of fluffy pop songs (for a second record in a row, that is…). If I had to use a single word for “Streets of Fire” that would be SPECTACULAR! What we have in our hands is an album far superior to its superb predecessor with well-crafted compositions and catchy songs that bring in mind memories from the golden age of AOR (1981-86).

Ward writes better than his last efforts in PC 69 while Kiske seems to be really comfortable in this role and we can only hope that there will come a day that he will head into…streets of metal! I won’t distinguish any tracks as they are all sparking and could have been instant classics if they had been released…let’s say 20-25 years ago! So, be it…
