Awaken The Empire - Aurora (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | Tracks: 12 | 46:56 min | 108 Mb
Style: Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock, Electronic | Label: Another Century

Awaken the Empire released their debut EP The Awakening in February of 2011, with every intention of following it with a full-length album soon after. Those plans were delayed, by lineup changes, label changes, tour mishaps and, literally, by life and death, with singer/frontman Damien Lawson losing his mother to cancer shortly following the birth of his son (with bassist Romina Fronti). Four years and some inevitable changes later, Aurora has finally dropped for public consumption. And it has been considerably well worth the wait.

Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic 1969 album A SALTY DOG by PROCOL HARUM. Released in June 1969, the record followed on from the huge international success of the band's debut single A Whiter Shade of Pale and the follow up single Homburg and the superb albums PROCOL HARUM and SHINE ON BRIGHTLY. One of the finest releases of the era A Salty Dog saw the exquisite song writing of Gary Brooker and Keith Reid honed to perfection on highlights such as the album's title track, The Devil Came From Kansas, Wreck of the Hesperus, The Milk of Human Kindness and more. Recorded at Abbey Road studios, the album captured the excellence of the musicians in the group, namely Gary Brooker (voice, piano), Robin Trower (lead guitar), David Knights (bass guitar), B.J. Wilson (drums) and Matthew Fisher (Hammond organ).

Hawkwind - Friends And Relations (1982)
Rock | 1cd | EAC Rip | Flac + Cue + Log | covers
flicknife Clp 1243-2 | rel: 2002 | 265Mb

This LP is worth searching for. If you are inside electronic music, for sure you will find inside only one notable track, but this one is THE one. I'm speaking about "Time Centre", a track you can find on much of those nowdays famous and highly collectable cosmic music tapes mixed by the italian DJ's Baldelli, Loda, Ebreo... "Time Centre" is one of those unknown-well known pieces, nobody is thinking finding it in a so called rock LP like this one.

Eva Cassidy - Live At Blues Alley (1997)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 13 Tracks | 57:34 | 134 MB
Genre: Jazz, Vocal Jazz, Blues, Folk, Rock | Label: Blix Street

The late Eva Cassidy gained a loyal following in the Washington, D.C., area through appearances in small clubs, utilizing her pitch-perfect singing voice to interpret a variety of tunes ranging from standards to modern-era pop songs. A notoriously shy performer, Eva Cassidy had a somewhat stiff stage presence, but she endeared herself to her audiences by performing songs she obviously loved, combining elements of soul, gospel, blues, and jazz. Live at Blues Alley is an excellent showcase for her vocal talents and her ability to make even the most familiar tune uniquely her own. Admittedly, the titles on Live at Blues Alley seem like a set list for a bad Vegas lounge act; songs such as Irving Berlin's "Cheek to Cheek" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" have been done to death for decades. Fortunately, Eva Cassidy had...

Grateful Dead - Dave's Picks Volume 15: Municipal Auditorium Nashville, TN 4/22/78
Classic Rock, Psychedelic Rock | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 163:58 min | 394 MB + 5% Recovery
Label: Grateful Dead Records | Tracks: 19 | Rls.date: 2015

This one's truly all about the music! We're pleased to add the Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, TN, April 22, 1978 to list of "officially released" Grateful Dead shows. A spitfire of a performance that helps mark the band's "end-of-1977 sound," we find the seven firing on all cylinders, hitting high notes on crowd-pleasers like "Bertha>Good Lovin'" and "Jack Straw" in the first set and on "Not Fade Away">"Wharf Rat">"Sugar Magnolia" in the second, lest we forget to mention one of the finest versions of "Wharf Rat" ever performed. We could wax lyrical about the countless highlights of this night but we'd rather just let the jammy goodness prevail!

When the century was dying, Andre Mello (Keyboard, vocals) and drummer Marcio de Almeyda (Former Visagem) joined to form a new band, almost immediately they recruited their two friends Bernard (bass) and guitarist Henrique Henrique Simões, but after a couple weeks Bernard decided to pursue his designing career and left the band, being replaced by Henrique's cousin Rolando Simões (later replaced by André Luiz). This lineup recorded their first two songs that later became part of their debut "Tales from a Forgotten World" which was released in 1997 with Ary Moura who took Marcio's place as drummer of Tempus Fugit...

Eela Craig - One Niter (1976) [Japan Remastered 2009]
EAC Rip | FLAC (tracks & cue & log) | 290 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 125 MB | Scans | 45:42
Genre: Progressive Rock | Country: Austria | Label: Belle Antique | BELLE 091475

How is it that Eela Craig haven't gotten more attention from lovers of ‘70s Euro-rock? Is it because they were too Austrian or too arty for Krautrock lovers, who prefer the grittier, more visceral sounds of German bands like Can and Guru Guru to Eela Craig's sophisticated prog stylings? On the other side of the fence, did they miss out on inclusion in the pantheon of classic prog bands because they weren't from England, or were lumped in with the Krautrock scene? Whatever the case, their second album, One Niter, is a grand-scale prog rock masterpiece.

The Aristocrats - The Aristocrats (2011)
EAC Rip | FLAC (tracks & cue & log) | 409 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 152 MB | Scans | 60:22
Genre: Progressive Rock / Heavy Prog Rock / Jazz Rock | Country: USA | Label: Boing! Music LLC. | BM00001

The Aristocrats is a heavy rock and jazz fusion power trio from around the world. The music here tends toward playful fun but incoherence. This is a series of lengthy albeit sophisticated jams full of incredible technical proficiency but lacking any memorability."Boing!. I'm in the Back" Distorted guitar and an odd rhythm adopt a quirky drive in this opener. Eventually, it boasts a bit of progressive surf rock. I appreciate the softer side the band takes on during the middle passage.

Political astuteness aside, Henry Cow's Leg End is simply a busy musical trip, comprised of snaking rhythms, unorthodox time signatures, and incongruous waves of multiple instruments that actually culminate in some appealing yet complex progressive rock...

Dion - The Road I'm On: A Retrospective (1997)
Pop Rock, Rock, Rock'n'Roll | MP3 320 kbps CBR | Booklet | 102 min | 246 MB
Label: SPV | Rel: 1997

Dion's mid-'60s Columbia period was a strange and rather mysterious one. After notching up some solid hits that were more or less in his early '60s rock style ("Ruby Baby," "Donna the Prima Donna"), he dove into blues, folk, and folk-rock with varying degrees of success. Although the results were usually pretty interesting, commercially he seemed to have disappeared (a situation not helped by either his heroin problems or the failure of some of the material to get released). This is a good, if imperfect, two-CD overview of the Columbia years, moving from the expected early hits to quite a few tasty surprises, including covers of Woody Guthrie, Chuck Berry, Willie Dixon, "Work Song" (penned by Nat Adderley and Oscar Brown), Tom Paxton, and Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue."

Genre: Hard Rock, Cowpunk, Alternative Rock | Label: EMI/Medley Records | Cat.№: EMI 8364212

Less than underscoring D:A:D's admirable songwriting chops during this, the first decade of their career, the cheekily titled Good Clean Family Entertainment You Can Trust -- Milestone Material 85-95 winds up revealing their stylistic inconsistency from record to record. While this certainly speaks volumes about the Danish cowpunkers' versatility, it's hardly the stuff that long-lasting careers -- much less loyal fan bases -- are made of.

It's kind of spooky how things come full circle. Who would have through that Donnie and Johnny Van Zant, brothers to one of rock & roll's true icons and heirs apparent to the Lynyrd Skynyrd legacy, would find themselves in a musical climate so friendly to the excesses of Southern rock in the 21st century? As it stands, nine years after their supposed one-off debut, the pair are not only going strong, they've had all of their previous recordings reissued as DualDiscs...
