Controlled By Hatred / Feel Like *Hit… Déjà Vu, the first of three Suicidal albums that's eventually went gold.

With their popularity and media attention obviously increasing, Suicidal released a compilation of two EPs, Controlled By Hatred/Feel Like Shit…Déjà Vu in 1989. With yet another new member (future Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, credited as Stymee), and the first of three Suicidal Tendencies albums to go gold. The album featured two versions of "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow": the video version (the original song cut down for radio/video airplay) and the "heavy emotion" version (a semi-unplugged, more mellow version of the song). All the rest of the songs on the album came from previously released EPs except "Just Another Love Song" and "Feel Like Shit…Deja Vu", with the remaining songs being No Mercy and Los Cycos covers. The album featured the hit "Waking The Dead", which at 7 minutes long was one of the most progressive tracks the band had released to date.

Suicidal Tendencies - Controlled By Hatred / Feel Like *Hit ... Deja Vu (1989)

Originally released between 1987 and 1989 as two separate vinyl EPs, Suicidal Tendencies' Controlled By Hatred and Feel Like Shit…Déjà-Vu were eventually combined into one convenient, almost full-length compact disc. Besides offering two versions of the title track to the band's outstanding 1988 Epic debut, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow (one is the video edit, the other an emotional acoustic version), previously unreleased tracks like "Waking the Dead", "It's not Easy", and "Controlled By Hatred" showcase Mike Muir's gang of social deviants at their best. ST fanatics will no doubt get a kick out of these rarities, which also provide a nice link between the aforementioned album and 1990's stellar follow-up, Lights…Camera…Revolution!.
