Melissa Stylianou - No Regrets (2014)

Melissa Stylianou’s latest release “No Regrets” was recorded live to 2-track in one noon-to-night session, with some of New York’s finest musicians. Joined by Bruce Barth on piano, Linda Oh on bass, Matt Wilson on drums, and special guests Anat Cohen on clarinet and Billy Drewes on alto sax, Stylianou presents exciting, direct and unfiltered interpretations of tunes that have been close to her heart, but never recorded, as well as some new additions to her repertoire. “One tune that didn’t make it onto the final list, but was integral to the process and the mood that day in March is “No Regrets””, says Stylianou “with its buoyant refrain holding steady in the face of uncertainty. Even before we’d finished tracking, we were calling it the “No Regrets” session. The title of the song (and now the record) captures the spirit of freedom band spontaneity that day in the studio, and I hope that same energy comes across to you, the listener.”
