Lenny White - The Adventures Of The Astral Pirates (1978) {Wounded Bird}
EAC 0.99pb5 | FLAC tracks level 8 | Cue+Log+M3U | Scans 200dpi | 239MB + 5% Recovery
MP3 CBR 320 Kbps | 92MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Fusion, Jazz-Funk

One of Lenny White's finest, most essential albums, The Adventures of Astral Pirates is a jazz-fusion masterpiece with a futuristic science-fiction theme. Star Wars was number one at the box office when, in 1977, White produced this disc with Al Kooper, and perhaps Elektra was hoping to cash in on the film's popularity.

Yellowjackets - Like A River (1993)
Jazz | 1cd | EAC Rip | Flac + Cue + Log | covers
GRP, GRD-9689 | rel: 1993 | 420Mb

Other than the easy-listening pieces that appear near the beginning of the program, this is one of The Yellowjackets' strongest jazz dates. Bob Mintzer's creative reeds (switching between tenor, bass clarinet, soprano and the EWI) keep the music stimulating and keyboardist Russell Ferrante has come a long way as both an improviser (where he is most influenced by Herbie Hancock) and as the band's main composer.

Savina Yannatou / Primavera En Salonico - Songs Of An Other (2008) {ECM 2057}
EAC 0.99pb4 | FLAC Image | Cue+Log | Full Scans 300dpi | 250MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Ethnic Fusion, Balkan Folk

When Primavera en Salonico slide into one of their hypnotic Mediterranean grooves, the tension slowly builds. Then Savina Yannatou, the band's singer, opens her lips and takes you into another dimension, a place where space, time, and geography are suspended, filling listeners with a soulful sound that's at once achingly spiritual and frighteningly earthy, a pure timeless cry beyond words. She has an impressive multi-octave range that can soar in a heartbeat from a girlish giggle to the ageless howl of a dying old woman, all sung with a clarity and lack of effort that's astonishing.

Medeski, Martin & Wood's Shack Man is the best example to date of the trio's cerebral fusion of soul-jazz, hip-hop, and post-punk worldbeat. Relying on a laid-back groove for most the album, the group just rolls along. Shack Man is the kind of album that will appeal most to soul-jazz beginners; for aficionados, the lack of grit in the groove makes it rather tedious.

Giovanni Mirabassi & Andrzej Jagodzinski Trio (2002)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 11 Tracks | 1:00:58 | 109 MB
Genre: Jazz | Label: StarProd

About Polish jazz, we can say it is in a favorable situation… particularly with pianist Andrzej Jagodzinski whose inspiration and energy make him a genuine and daring artist. The Cds of the « Chopin Cycle » turned out to be the best-sellers of Polish jazz. They represent a kind of visiting card representing the essential part of his work in this last decade. His constant cooperation with Czeslaw Bartkowski on the drums, and Adam Cegielski on the bass, has reached a state of perfection in jazz… But that does not mean Jagodzinski has rested on his laurels. On the contrary, he introduces himself unexpectedly in a new light: and this time he chooses the accordion (not at all appreciated in Polish jazz) with a jazz improvisation which strays from folk music and the traditional bucolic melodic line linked with the accordion...

Alma Afrobeat Ensemble - Toubab Soul (2010) {Amphora Records}
EAC 1.0b3 | FLAC tracks level 8 | Cue+Log+M3U | Full Scans 600dpi | 373MB + 5% Recovery
MP3 CBR 320 Kbps | 149MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Afrobeat, Ethnic Fusion, World Music

The Alma Afrobeat Ensemble (AAbE) was germinated in New Orleans in 2003, grew in Chicago under the influence of the music of Fela Kuti, encompassing the multicultural influences from the founder and mystical wizard of funk, jazz and high-life music. The band became its own self in its last years in Chicago/ Champaign-Urbana, and has now matured in Barcelona during the last four years. The recent history of the band is that its founder, leader and main composer, Aaron Feder, had the idea to combine his band from Chicago with musicians in Europe from all over the world, (South America, Africa, and Europe) under the flag of Afrobeat music, and the principles of social justice through that music.

Steve Gadd Band - 70 Strong (2015) {Savoy}
EAC 1.0b6 | FLAC Image level 8 | Cue+Log | Full Scans 300dpi | 454MB + 5% Recovery
Genre: Jazz, Fusion

Since the 70s, Steve Gadd has pretty much seen it and done it all, and recognized as one of the most influential drummers of the modern era, spanning numerous musical genres. His slippery cross-sticking between the hi-hat and snare drum amid new ways and means to generate a funk groove, along with his famous drum solo on the title track of Steely Dan's 1977 landmark album "Aja," are just a few noteworthy accreditations of a distinguished career. For example, he's performed on seminal jazz fusion albums for guitarist Al Di Meola and keyboardist Chick Corea while navigating tricky time signatures with the greatest of ease. Thus 70 Strong is a celebration of his 70th birthday as he performs with an all-star crew on an album that is a bit more up-tempo and briskly in the pocket than the rather discreet and probing, Gattitude (BFM Jazz, 2013).

The Breathing Effect - Mars Is A Very Bad Place For Love (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | Tracks: 11 | 44:22 min | 102 Mb
Style: Nu-Jazz, Fusion, Soul | Label: Alpha Pup Records

Jazz is supposedly a grown folks’ genre, played by aging bohemians in tiny clubs. Tell that to the Breathing Effect—a self-described electronic group influenced by soul, rock and jazz—whose debut album, Mars Is a Very Bad Place for Love, toes a line between traditional and turn up. As a unit, producer/keyboardist Eli Goss and drummer/bassist Harry Terrell merge the standards of conventional jazz with modern bounce beats. By definition, it scans as "jazz fusion," but the results conjure '70s R&B as well as the contemporary Los Angeles beat scene and hip-hop.

She played on the stage of the "Théâtre antique" in Vienne on 8 July 2012, in a sophisticated yet accessible performance.

Reissue. Comes with new liner notes. A sweet session of 70s electric jazz – recorded as a unique live all-star outing by a group of Arista's best jazz players at the time! The group's an octet, but plays together in differing formations throughout the record – with Warren Bernhardt on keyboards, Michael Brecker on saxes, Randy Brecker on trumpet, Steve Jordan on drums, Steve Khan and Larry Coryell on guitars, Tony Levin on bass, and Mike Maineri on vibes – the last of which really make for some of the best numbers on the album! Bernhardt's keyboards are pretty good too – stepping out with a spacious, fluid feel that's never jamming – and more in the open-ended Bob James side of the spectrum, although his overall sound is a lot different than Bob's! Titles include "Blue Montreux", "Rocks", "I'm Sorry", "Floating".

Luca Aquino - OverDOORS (2015)
MP3 320 kbps CBR | 54:00 min | 131 MB
Genre: Jazz Rock, Fusion | Label: Bonsaï Music

Tributes are a kind of fashion in jazz and today it’s cool to declare oneself a rockstar. That’s why I pulled myself back from dedicating an album to The Doors, my absolute favorite band, for such a long time. Then my love to Jim Morrison and his mates dominated.
