Anthony Jambon Quintet & Romain Cuoq - Awake (2014)

After two years matured stage repertoire, this quintet of the new generation of French jazz led by saxophonist Roman Cuoq and guitarist Anthony Ham unveils her first album, AWAKE. It is fed by the influence of musicians who have developed a real notion of group as Brian Blade and his Fellowship, Ambrose Akinmusire or Aaron Parks, has developed this project. The interplay, the "play together" and the colors of this quintet can hear and compare the footsteps of these great musicians, not to give special attention to the melody and vocals, whether in the writing or improvisation. Finally, one could also hear the feeling and energy from rock and especially folk, not materialized electric and acoustic guitars sometimes and supported by grooves. It is basically the young guard who defends with talent design modern jazz, within the world of today and impregnated his influences.

Above all, it is a meeting of history, adventure and generosity. Sharing between musicians who make a step towards each other, for each other to mingle sensitivities and often common references, sometimes different. It is also and above all a complicity history of friendship between Anthony Ham and Romain Cuoq, giving strength and coherence to the music defends the project. Backed by rich personalities, musicians in personal language and the strong presence that are Emile Parisien, Florent Nisse and Nicolas Charlier, the mixture works and it is a separate entity that presents itself to the listener.
