Jordan Bennett - Original (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 13 Tracks | 43:59 | 103 MB
Genre: Jazz, Vocal Jazz, Pop Jazz | Label: Jordan Bennett

Jordan Bennett can thrill an audience no matter if he is performing in a small cabaret setting or in a two-thousand seat concert hall. He enjoys performing as a solo artist as much as he enjoys sharing the stage with other talented entertainers. The Los Angeles Times said, “Jordan Bennett offers a powerful, persuasively melting performance. The effect is often quite mesmerizing.” NBC entertainment proclaimed, “Jordan Bennett is extraordinary.” Jordan has performed his original songs on television, onstage and in concert halls around the world. In the theater, Jordan starred in Les Miserables, as the heroic Jean Valjean. In a review of that show The Los Angeles Times said of him: “Bennett has a big voice...

Miles Davis - Miles + Miles (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 16 Tracks | 1:42:22 | 235 MB
Genre: Jazz | Label: Sandrew Metronome

Throughout a professional career lasting 50 years, Miles Davis played the trumpet in a lyrical, introspective, and melodic style, often employing a stemless Harmon mute to make his sound more personal and intimate. But if his approach to his instrument was constant, his approach to jazz was dazzlingly protean. To examine his career is to examine the history of jazz from the mid-'40s to the early '90s, since he was in the thick of almost every important innovation and stylistic development in the music during that period, and he often led the way in those changes, both with his own performances and recordings and by choosing sidemen and collaborators who forged new directions. It can even be argued that jazz stopped evolving when Davis wasn't there to push it forward...

Jazz / Post Bop / Avant-Garde Jazz / Saxophone

Reissue. Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. One of our favorite Ornette Coleman albums of the post-Atlantic 60s years – a set that still hangs onto some of the bold rhythmic conception of his previous records, but also points the way towards his freer jazz modes to come! The group's a trio – with really tremendous work from Charlie Haden on bass, able to match Coleman's energy with effortless ease, and really getting a lot of room to leave his mark on the music – plus the very young (10!) Denardo Coleman, who plays drums here with this stark, simple style that's not only completely unique, but which also leaves a lot of open room left for Haden and Ornette to really stretch out. Ornette plays his usual alto, plus trumpet and violin – and titles include "Good Old Days", "The Empty Foxhole", "Zig Zag", and "Freeway Express".

Stan Getz - Stan Getz in Warsaw (1991)
EAC | FLAC | Tracks (Cue&Log) ~ 317 Mb (incl 5%) | Mp3 (CBR320) ~ 137 Mb (incl 5%) | Scans included
Genre: Cool, Post-Bop | Label: Polskie Nagrania | # PNCD 148 | Time: 00:48:28

Stan Getz was invited to perform a concert with a local rhythm section in Warsaw, Poland, in 1960; he was sufficiently impressed with the trio to join them for a brief studio session afterwards. While this five-song set isn't flawless, as Getz has some problems with repeated reed squeaking in the rendition of "Cherokee," the all-standards program is otherwise very enjoyable, with excellent sound. Getz is in total control with the lush take of "Darn That Dream," as he makes a delayed entrance following pianist Andrzej Trzaskowski, who proves himself to be a thoughtful accompanist and soloist. Bassist Roman Dylag and drummer Andrzej Dabrowski also get high marks. This compilation is rounded out with two tracks from a 1974 concert in Warsaw by a working edition of the Stan Getz Quartet, with pianist Albert Dailey, bassist George Mraz, and drummer Billy Hart. The tenor saxophonist again gets a little sloppy with atypical reed squeaks in both tracks, which include an extended, exciting workout of Chick Corea's "La Fiesta" and an old favorite, Jobim's "Desafinado." Getz fans will definitely want to acquire this obscure Polish CD.

Jon Hassell and Bluescreen - Dressing for Pleasure (1994)
EAC | FLAC | Tracks (Cue&Log) ~ 389 Mb (incl 5%) | Mp3 (CBR320) ~ 186 Mb (incl 5%) | Scans included | Time: 01:00:53
Genre: Experimental Electronic, Future Jazz, Acid Jazz, Trip Hop | Label: Warner Bros. | # 9362-45523-2

Two of the most memorable albums from the trip-hop and acid jazz era are by cornettist Graham Haynes (Transition) and trumpeter Ben Neill (Goldbug. Dressing for Pleasure preceeded them both. Usually, an adjective like "suave" doesn't sit easily on an ethnomusicologist whose knack for directness is grounded by his sense of beauty; neither does a label like "acid jazz." But this is Hassell's only album to fit its musical moment, following his appearance on the soundtrack of the crime film Trespass. The feel of a fully committed band is especially amazing -- Hassell and drummer Brain work with an army of bassists (six, including Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and enough programmers (three) to field a dot com startup on a coffee break. Hassell's horn flits through a sexy blend of trip-hop's hard drum programs topped with soft, impassive electronic textures like a bird circling over a crowded intersection. Woodwind player Kenny Garrett and guitarist Gregg Arreguin provide thematic voices, too, but melody is rarely enough in this genre.

Genre: soul, funk, jazz, disco

A Sweet Taste Of Westbound is a 1996 compilation CD tilting the spotlight rays onto the Michigan recording label known as Westbound Records. It is not to be an accurate look at the best of Westbound, for there cannot be that unless you made it yourself and you could but you didn't try so there. It is just a mere sweet taste of Westbound, and now you can have a taste of its soul, its funk, its jazz, and its disco. Finger and spread this.

Claudio Fasoli Four - London Tube (2014)
MP3 320 kbps CBR | 56:00 min | 130 MB
Genre: Jazz | Label: Abeat Records

One of the pleasures of traveling to events abroad is the opportunity to learn about musicians who may be established at home, but are deserving of more attention abroad. Such was the case when covering the Fondazione Siena Summer Jazz Workshop 2013 in Siena, Italy, and the chance to experience saxophonist Claudio Fasoli, both in action as an instructor at the academy and at a very special performance by his Claudio Fasoli Four. London Tube is the quartet's second recording following 2011's Avenir (Caligola) and, like its predecessor, capitalizes on the strengths of a quartet of exceptional players that deserve wider recognition.

Pinky Winters - Let's Be Buddies (2015)
MP3 320 kbps CBR | 43:18 min | 102 MB
Genre: Vocal Jazz | Label: Fresh Sound Records

Pinky Winters is a favorite of listeners who cherish superior songs sung with fealty to the intentions of the composers and lyricists who created them. Much of her best work was done with pianist Lou Levy after the two weathered an uncomfortable first encounter and eventually became professional and personal partners. They recorded Let s Be Buddies when their musical understanding was at full flower. With Monty Budwig, one of the greatest bassists of his generation, Levy and Ms. Winters performed 14 songs by the cream of contemporary songwriters including Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Johnny Mandel, Hoagy Carmichael and the Gershwin brothers.

"I was the engineer on the recording sessions and I also made the masters for the original LP issues of these albums. Since the advent of the CD, other people have been making the masters. Mastering is the final step in the process of creating the sound of the finished product. Now, thanks to the folks at the Concord Music Group who have given me the opportunity to remaster these albums, I can present my versions of the music on CD using modern technology. I remember the sessions well, I remember how the musicians wanted to sound, and I remember their reactions to the playbacks. Today, I feel strongly that I am their messenger." —Rudy Van Gelder

Peter White is one of those rare artists whose unique sound and natural, unpretentious musical vision encapsulate all the charm, appeal, and excitement of his genre. However one chooses to label that style -- new adult contemporary, contemporary jazz, pop instrumental -- the English-born acoustic guitarist has struck rare chords, artistically, commercially, and emotionally, in becoming a melodic mainstay at the top of every radio airplay and sales chart known to soulful, smooth jazz since launching his solo career in 1990 with reveillez-vous. White's similarly warmhearted, instantly infectious Columbia debut Caravan of Dreams continues in the R&B vein of his previous two discs (1993's Promenade and 1994's Reflections), focusing on his trademark breezes while texturing street-smart synth grooves with a free-spirited all-star ensemble to create a whimsical musical travelog...

Quadro Nuevo - Tango (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 15 Tracks | 73:48 | 173 MB
Genre: Jazz, World, Tango | Label: Fine Music

Though based in Germany, acoustic jazz quartet Quadro Nuevo devoted its creative energies to resurrecting the fading musical traditions of Europe as a whole, in particular embracing the tango. Guitarist Robert Wolf, reedist Mulo Francel, accordionist Andreas Hinterseher, and bassist D.D. Lowka co-founded Quadro Nuevo in Salzburg in 1996. Originally commissioned to write and produce film music for the Austrian broadcaster ORF, the four musicians immediately bonded over their eclectic musical backgrounds and shared affection for nostalgia, and in the decade to follow they played more than 1,500 live dates across the continent, forging an alchelmical acoustic sound from elements of flamenco, Balkan swing, traditional folk, and avant-garde improvisation. Issuing their debut album, Luna Rossa, in 1998, ...

Ron Carter Golden Striker Trio - Hildener Jazztage Live (2015)
MP3 CBR 320 kbps | 7 Tracks | 57:42 | 136 MB
Genre: Jazz | Label: JZM

Ron Carter is the perfect jazz bassist par. Its unique game can be heard on an estimated two thousand albums, some fifty of which he recorded as a leader. His technical and musical resources are limitless, his legendary reputation also. Russell Malone Donald VegaNatürlich is especially remembered that Carter was a member of the classic Miles Davis Quintet in the sixties. But are its ongoing efforts to establish the bass as a lead instrument acclaimed on all sides at least as great credit. So Carter has worked in his career with the most diverse ensemble constellations: duo recordings with guitarist Jim Hall, pianist Cedar Walton and accordionist Richard Galliano in his discography to find as Nonet recordings with four cellos. Even on his latest album experimented today 69-year-old with a refined cast.

Teddy Charles - A Salute To Hamp: A Vibraphone Players Of Bethlehem, vol.1 (1959) Remastered Reissue 1994
EAC | FLAC | Tracks (Cue&Log) ~ 296 Mb (incl 5%) | Mp3 (CBR320) ~ 141 Mb (incl 5%) | Scans included
Genre: Cool, Vibraphone/Marimba Jazz | Label: Bethlehem | # 20-40082 | Time: 00:48:46

All vibraphonists owe a debt of gratitude to Lionel Hampton for paving the way in traditional and modern jazz, pioneering the instrument as more than in an accompanist role or being heard only in lounges. In his heyday, Teddy Charles was a prime example of taking Hampton's approach to a different level, eventually in hard and post-bop, but here he takes swing era tunes of Hamp's, changing up or editing their melodic structures with a quartet featuring pianist Hank Jones, and a larger ensemble with horn complement. This album as reissued on CD is known as Salute to Hamp and subtitled "The Vibraphone Players of Bethlehem, Vol. 1" as issued originally on the Bethlehem label, reissued by Avenue Jazz. It showcases Charles, not so much in an evolutionary fashion, but as a complete performer and bandleader. He is a singularly unique jazzman who anyone can appreciate, and is quite able to hold interest of listeners beyond conventional wisdom of what well-worn standards can sound like with just a little inspiration and soul.
